Dave Filoni “exploring new Star Wars content” for Disney?

Supervising Director Dave Filoni / Photo by Jocelyn Knight from starwarsblog @ FlickrIt’s brief, but TVLine has a report from the Disney Channel upfront yesterday:

Disney Channels Worldwide boss Gary Marsh also said the company is “working closely with LucasFilm, Kathleen Kennedy and director Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) to explore new Star Wars content for our platforms,” to be detailed later this year.

It does echo the announcement from the other day, but any port in a storm. (via)

Hunger Games has the third biggest debut of all time

The Hunger Games is more than living up to box office speculation: With $155 million, now the third-highest domestic debt of all time, and the first that’s not a sequel. (It came in behind only The Dark Knight and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.)

The film is, not surprisingly, drawing in more men than Twilight, with women compromising 61% of the opening weekend crowd. (The audience of the last Twilight film was 80% female.) It’s also doing well across the country – a Utah theater had the weekend’s highest gross.

Have you seen it yet? What did you think? Vote in our poll beneath the cut!

Poll: Will you go see The Phantom Menace in 3D this weekend?

So Friday sees the release of The Phantom Menace 3D. Drew McWeeny praises the conversion, and his kid loved it (and he has a funny story about being banned from Skywalker Ranch.) Coming Soon’s Chris and Benjamin Mason were “blown away” by the conversion, though Richard Gray of The Reel Bits is less impressed, calling it “disappointing” and “murky.” But it’s The Phantom Menace, so of course the reviews are mixed.

In any case, our pal Bryan Young really wants you to see it. Others… Not so much. (I’m debating, but… Well.) Of course.

But the real question…

Poll: What do you think of Ahsoka’s new look?

New character models for Ahsoka and Anakin debuted in Friday’s ‘Heroes on Both Sides.’ (We’ve been told that Obi-Wan also got one, but he hasn’t appeared yet beyond the promo.) But the guy’s outfits really aren’t what anyone has been talking about…. Now that you’ve seen her in motion, what are your thoughts on Ahsoka’s makeover? Answer on the sidebar or beneath the cut. Poll: Weigh in on Fate of the Jedi: Backlash

The triumphant return of not only Fate of the Jedi, but our book polls! No doubt you’ve been looking forward to it. (Okay, maybe not the poll.) In any case, the fourth Fate of the Jedi book, Allston’s Backlash, came out last week, so now it’s time for you to cast your vote. Head below the cut to play (and don’t forget to check out Erika’s review!) Continue reading “Poll: Weigh in on Fate of the Jedi: Backlash

Poll: What EU programming would you like to see at CV?

With Celebration V solidly on the horizon and Reed soliciting event ideas from fans, now seems a good time to ask what kind of Expanded Universe programming you’d like to see. There’s sure to be plenty of Clone Wars events, and I’d be very surprised if there wasn’t a Fate of the Jedi panel, but other than that I wouldn’t count on much… Unless we volunteer to make ourselves heard. Vote in the poll beneath the cut (or on the sidebar) and feel free to elaborate in the comments. Continue reading “Poll: What EU programming would you like to see at CV?”

Weekend poll: DVD vs. Blu-Ray vs. the internet

I’m not generally an early adopter when it comes to this sort of technology, so the recent focus on Blu-Ray has kind of thrown me for a loop. DVDs were certainly a vast improvement over VHS, but what’s so wonderful about Blu-Ray? (My TV is okay, but mere DVDs still look fantastic on my parent’s giant flat-screen.) And while I prefer to watch TV from my couch, I can’t deny that I’ll head to the internet if it has the shows I really want to see. (Though only if I really want them… I still haven’t watched any classic Star Trek.) So I was wondering about you guys… What are your preferred formats? Vote for as many that apply on the sidebar or beneath the cut. Continue reading “Weekend poll: DVD vs. Blu-Ray vs. the internet”
