Video: Attack of the Clones bloopers

Last night’s offering from the official Star Wars Youtube channel. Also worth noting, while we’re here: I’ve been doing movie theme days on our Tumblr this week as a way of clearing out the drafts folder (ANH, ESB and today is ROTJ; TPM starts tomorrow) and since I just added a ton of AOTC stuff to drafts, more than I can ever use in one day, thus maybe defeating the whole purpose of doing movie days in the first place…

(Also, question: Are enough of you not on Tumblr that you’d like to see updates on our themes over there? I have been keeping to it, but I haven’t done anything bigger than a day or two on a single theme in a while so I wasn’t sure if it was worth a post here.)

It’s concept art week on the Club Jade Tumblr

Ghost concept art (from starwars on Tumblr)

I’ve been trying something new on our Tumblr lately: Themes! This week it’s Star Wars concept art. Above is an image from the official account: A concept of the Ghost from Rebels by Kilian Plunkett.

Last week we featured art from (and occasionally inspired by) the comics and comic artists. (Plunkett is also responsible for the covers from the Mara Jade: By the Emperor’s Hand mini-series back in the day.) In addition to reblogs we had a series on comic book characters and it’s where you’ll find my Dark Horse recs.)

On the Tumblr: Is this the greatest Jedi Master Luke portrait of all time?

Phil Noto's Jedi Master Luke SkywalkerOur Tumblr passed 300 followers not too long ago, and while posting has slowed at times, there’s still plenty of stuff that doesn’t make it all the way here. So if you’re on Tumblr, follow us!

Fan art. Comic book artist Phil Noto did an awesome Jedi Master Luke Skywalker portrait. Bow down. Also, from Burton Durand, Star Wars characters in hats. (Shouldn’t Ackbar be a Mets fan?)

In brief. This is the greatest beginner’s guide to the Expanded Universe ever. I am not kidding. You’ll laugh, then you’ll cry from laughing. Oh, and a pretty cool Skywalker-Solo family tree.

On that note… What is my favorite official Mara Jade art? It’s not a big surprise because it’s been chilling in the masthead fora while now, but here’s the full scan.

Crafts. A Star Wars felt crib mobile that will automatically make your child 20% cooler. And let’s not forget the shoes: The Sith ones have spikes – the Artoo ones have Artoo, and I’m way more chill with them now that I see that the action figure isn’t actually standing in for the heel.

Fact you can use. What’s the problem with boob-shaped armor? Enter a new realm of fantasy nit-picking.

Photoshoppery. This may be self-serving, but I posted all the sequel/spinoff graphics I’ve done so far. ALIENS.

Just cool. A Darth Vader Meditation Chamber fireplace. I want one.

Your moment of zen. Baby in an X-wing uniform.

On the Tumblr: The Phantom Menace goes Vogue

We’re still going strong over on Tumblr, though I have been very lax at mentioning it here. Here are few things that haven’t made the blog proper.

coutureHigh fashion. Remember the Star Wars spread in the April 1999 issue of Vogue? It featured several of Queen Amidala’s costumes from The Phantom Menace.

Long reads. How obsessive fans built a better Han Solo blaster is strangely fascinating. Or maybe drop the ‘strangely.’

A Major Award. Of course there’s a Star Wars version of the lamp from A Christmas Story.. Of course.

It is the year of the GIF, after all. Who doesn’t love the floating head of Ewan McGregor?

Quick hits. Was that a dead Jaxxon on The Clone Wars? The Star Trek Into Darkness poster gets a Star Wars remix There are already Scoundrels costumes! And no roundup is complete without Star Wars infographics.

Club Jade is now on Tumblr!

I’ve been on Tumblr for a while now, but somehow Friday’s stirring GIF party disappointment ended up with me creating a Club Jade Tumblr. I know! This is madness!

Fear not – most of the stuff I’ve been posting so far aren’t really things that would make it all the way to the blog in a timely fashion, and more stuff from the blog will make it out there throughout the week.

But, of course, I blame Stooge.

The Stooge is on the move: To Tumblr!

With the Star Wars Blogs in their final days, The Stooge has moved his Star Wars Joke-A-Day, a long-time staple of the Blogs, to Tumblr. So fans, be sure to either bookmark StarWarsJokes.tumblr.com or, better yet, create an account and follow him!

Here a few other Star Wars Tumblrs you might want to follow to get started: Distracted by Star Wars, Professional Geek Girl, Star Wars Backstage, Retro Star Wars, Purple Lightsaber. And you can always poke around the tags to find other stuff you’ll like, though beware spoilers (and/or occasional random nudity.)
