Well, of course there’s a lightsaber night light. Of course.
A peek at Hallmark’s 2012 Star Wars ornaments
Upcoming Her Universe for the littlest fans
Here’s a sneak peek at a new @katiecandraw design for Her Universe babies! You’re never too young to be geek chic! twitter.com/HerUniverse/st…
— Her Universe (@HerUniverse) March 21, 2012
Not sure if it’s a tee or a onesie, but I’m sure there will be uses found for it. (It’s hard to tell from a phone pic, but in the Facebook comments, Ashley says it’s a light purple.)
Logo tote coming to Her Universe this summer
Getting ready to hop on a flight wearing my @starwars hat and carrying my NEW tote bag! Coming this summer! twitter.com/HerUniverse/st…
— Her Universe (@HerUniverse) March 14, 2012
Ashley Eckstein tweeted the above yesterday, our first look at a new product. The tote’s fabric bears some resemblance to that of a prototype Ashley polled fans about a year ago, but with a much simpler design.
Rejected Star Wars Concepts are back!
Remember the rejected Star Wars concepts from a few years back? Well, Jason Geyer is back with more product concepts – and even a few that got made.
Will Her Universe’s Mara Jade shirt debut at CVI?
@verojecsguard We are working on a Mara Jade t-shirt for Celebration!
— Her Universe (@HerUniverse) February 20, 2012
It looks likely! We first heard that it was in the pipeline back in 2010 (Ashley Eckstein admitted a little later she had spoke too soon.) I’m hoping it pans out for the con, and I even promise I won’t get too mad if there’s a catsuit.
UPDATE! When I tweeted this post, Ashley replied with a key detail: The artist!
@clubjade The amazing @catstaggs is working on our Mara Jade shirt :o) Send both of us your thoughts if you have any!
— Her Universe (@HerUniverse) February 20, 2012
Staggs has a 2010 commission of Mara on her Deviantart page.
In the meantime… The shirt Erin is wearing above is Mara Jade Nouveau from Mighty Fine, and it does appear to be an authorized product.
In other Her Universe news, Ashley has a new interview with Nerdist News.
LEGO extends Star Wars license for another decade
LEGO announced at Toy Fair that they have extended their license with Lucasfilm for Star Wars-themed toys, video games, etc. for another ten years. So not only will there be twenty new Star Wars LEGO building sets released in 2012, we’ll be seeing lots of LEGO Star Wars merchandise until 2022 (or probably longer).
As part of the announcement, they released some stats including that the LEGO Star Wars video game franchise has sold more than 30 million units with their four titles (and Joystiq seems to think they have a sequel in the works to their 2011 The Clone Wars video game). Also, from Toy Fair, Kotaku has some photos of some The Old Republic building sets and The Lord of the Rings sets (a new license for LEGO) and Collider’s got images of The Avengers sets. And for those who want to drool over all the revealed sets, FBTB has your full LEGO Star Wars set coverage from Toy Fair.
Mara Jade Skywalker is Hasbro’s 2011 Fan Choice. Yay?
Toy Fair is going on this weekend, and according to multiple reports, Jedi Master Mara Jade Skywalker was voted the Fan Choice figure. (You might remember the contest from last fall.) Unfortunately for those of us hoping to finally get a Mara figure without that blasted catsuit…
#StarWars Fans’ Choice tidbit: Mara Jade Skywalker will use Adam Hughes artwork as a start. #hotness
— Imperial Holcron (@ImpHolocron) February 11, 2012
Yeah. That artwork. (Again?) Sigh. I’m not hearing anything about a a prototype yet, but as always, we’ll have an eye out for updates.
The other Star Wars talker of Toy Fair? A Jar Jar in Carbonite figure will be a SDCC 2012 exclusive. Teehee.
UPDATED! StarWars.com has posted photos of Hasbro’s Toy Fair offerings, and sure enough, there’s no sign of Mara. (Though there is some nice Clone Wars stuff, if that’s your thing.) Needless to say, we’ll be watching Hasbro’s presentations through summer con season with great interest.
New products coming to Her Universe Feb. 10
The ‘queen’ t-shirt and Naboo earrings will go on sale in the Her Universe shop on the 10th – the same day a few other things come out. Handy!
