Celebration VI: Shea Standefer’s Jaina Solo costumes

Those of us who were at the Del Rey panel at Celebration will certainly remember Shea Standefer‘s Jaina costume – she was one of the first up at the Q&A and quite popular with photographers afterwards. Well, she sent us in a couple of pictures of the two Jainas she wore, taken with the backdrops at the con. Check them out below the cut.

Celebration VI photos: Cupcakes, sparkles and more

I had planned to upload my pictures at the con, but due to some key issues like forgotten passwords and awful hotel wifi, it was not to be. Still, I a) took more pictures than I did at CV and b) uploaded them less than a week after getting home. Let’s call that progress and be done with it.

Yes, some of them are iPhone photos, but most are from my trusty Lumix. EU fans, you’ll find most of the Essential Reader’s Companion art shown at the Essential panel. Cupcake fans, I have so many pictures of the Cupcake Wars cupcakes that your teeth will hurt. (And big thanks to Her Universe for the invite!) James, I will never stop taking pictures of you with food when you insist on posing with it. And finally: Disco Anakin. I know you want to see Disco Anakin, an officially licensed product of Hasbro, not something Club Jaders made on a dare, I swear.

And, yes, don’t forget James’ pictures! Also, if anyone got a shot of either of the two Doctor Who Elevens I heard about, please share a link to it in the comments!

Celebration VI: Hasbro’s Jedi Mara Jade Skywalker figure has a new sculpt, same catsuit

Well, this is disappointing… Hasbro revealed their new Mara Jade Skywalker figure at Celebration VI – the Jedi one we voted for in hopes she’d be wearing something other than the catsuit. Well, as expected, the figure is wearing the catsuit anyway… And sporting the wrong lightsaber to boot, so there are certainly going to be some disappointed Mara fans out there. In any case, start looking for the figure in the spring.

Thanks to Phil of ASMZine for the heads-up – check out the figure, plus further thoughts and the possibility of another – under the cut.

Celebration VI: A new Essential Guide to Characters is coming

Announced less than an hour ago here in Orlando was a new Essential Guide to Characters for next year by Daniel Wallace. Now, that wasn’t exactly a secret: We reported on it way back in April 2011. So what was the news? That Doug Wheatley will be doing all the portraits for it, 150 in all. Look for it next July.

There was other news, of course: Check it out beneath the cut.

Jawajames’ recap in photos of Star Wars Celebration VI Friday

Dunc has covered all the news, and I’m just the guy who takes the pictures. and organizes the Bounty Hunt puzzle hunt event at Celebration. So anyway, here’s some of the best of the photos. If you want to see the full set, I have a photo album just of Friday at Celebration VI (170 shots of the Del Rey panel, cupcakes, Friday Bounty Hunt, random costumes) on flickr. Dunc’s recap of Friday at Celebration VI: Detours, cupcakes, Mark Hamill and more

Today was fairly busy, starting off with the Del Rey panel. It was also the first official reveal of Detours, which I chose not to attend in order to write up Del Rey. This one goes a little beyond just the stuff I was able to attend, if only because of the sheer overlapping amount of big things going on. (Yes: Still exhausting!)

Oh, and apparently The Clone Wars is moving to a Saturday morning debut? Alrighty then. Bryan Young went to the S5 premiere tonight and has posted a review and recap.

Some quick thoughts on Del Rey, Detours, cupcakes, the Essential Reader’s Companion, Mark Hamill and more below the cut.

Celebration VI: Del Rey annouces Jaina Solo trilogy, new original trilogy series

We got news about two new projects this morning at Del Rey’s panel. The first is a new series, Rebels, featuring the classic characters, which launches with a Leia-centric tale by Martha Wells. The second, focusing on Luke, will be written by Kevin Hearns. These were just approved, so no art. It’s set between ANH and ESB, I believe.

The second is something we’ve all been waiting for and half-expecting: A Jaina trilogy, Sword of the Jedi, written by Christie Golden. Lots of cheers from the audience! It’s set not too long after Fate of the Jedi and does have some (temporary?) art. The Jaina fans are super-excited, and who can blame them?

But most of the panel was, as promised, given to Q&A. Some highlights and updates on other upcoming books, including Crucible, Scoundrels and more beneath the cut. In attendance were Pablo Hidalgo, Aaron Allston, James Luceno, Drew Karpyshyn, Jennifer Heddle, Shelly Shapiro and Timothy Zahn.
