Star Wars: The Clone Wars started up again with ‘Senate Murders’, and this time the wartime casualties are in the halls of power, and it’s up to Padmé Amidala and Bail Organa to crack the case. Continue reading “The Clone Wars review: ‘Senate Murders’”
Blurbs times two: Vortex and Visions
Ewan of SWBooks.co.uk spotted the blurb for Denning’s Fate of the Jedi: Vortex in the Random House Fall catalog. It’s somewhat spoilery, so highlight to read:
In Book Six of the bestselling nine-book Star Wars Fate of the Jedi series, the suspense crescendoes as the Skywalkers and their treacherous Sith allies race against time to discover the origins of the mysterious Force-entity known as Abeloth. When they begin to uncover secrets better kept hidden from mortal minds, no one is surprised to see the uneasy partnership erupt into violence. But they are surprised at where the investigation leads: to the home of the reclusive Fallanassi, who may hold in their hands the future of the Jedi Order itself.
Also appearing in the catalog are The Force Unleashed II (Pencil in November 2010 for the game and October 5 for the book;) and a first look at the cover art for Bonnie Burton’s craft book. (Two words: Lightsaber scissors.)
We’re also finally getting the skinny on Visions, with thanks to Eddie. Blurbs have appeared on both the regular and deluxe editions on Amazon. Here’s what the regular has to say:
Star Wars Visions collects a wealth of art – hand-picked by George Lucas – produced by a variety of artists, illustrators, designers and cartoonists, working across all genres and styles to celebrate their favourite characters, themes, worlds and moments from the Star Wars Universe. The full list of contributors is to be released incrimentally over the 6 months leading up to publication, with sneak previews, on starwars.com.
The deluxe blurb gives a list of artists, and the information that it will come with 50 additional “paintings and illustrations,” which is just mean. But such is life.
And while we’re on the subject, President Obama bought a copy of Star Wars: A Pop-Up Guide to the Galaxy in Iowa City today as a gift for the son of press secretary Robert Gibbs. Hat-tip to reader Greg for the photo link!
Carrie Fisher is coming to Celebration V
Reed has nabbed the “original princess with an attitude” to appear at Celebration V. Currently she’s only on for autographs, but cross your fingers.
Fisher will also be at another Reed convention, C2E2, next month in Chicago.
Lil’ Boba Fett to appear in The Clone Wars
USA Today was in a Star Wars mood, busting out a big article on the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back focusing on the consistently overhyped yet always fanboy-pleasing Boba Fett, who will be making his Clone Wars debut next month voiced by Daniel Logan. I remain perplexed, but what else is new?

New Firefly comic by real Browncoat
Clearly, Patton Oswalt is a man obsessed with Firefly. (And I so understand that!)
He talks with Entertainment Weekly about his upcoming Firefly comic “Float Out.”
I like him. In this article, it is clear he totally gets the Joss Whedon vibe. But you’ll have to wait until June to read it!
Details of the Celebration V VIP packages
There are a limited number of packages avaliable: 250 ‘Jedi Knight’ for #350 and 50 ‘Jedi Master’ for $750. Both come with early entrance, access, store discounts, reserved seating and a special concierge lounge. The ‘Master’ package features a private meet and greet with and original art from Dave Filoni, as well as a ‘personal shopper.’ (Sadly, not someone who will follow you around the floor and carry your purchases.)
The packages will go on sale in “the very near future,” with those already having badges getting an email notice today to set up a “live time” to purchase.
The Clone Wars: Watch ‘Senate Murders’ now
Friday’s episode is now up and running on StarWars.com for a limited time. Or, if that’s old hat, there’s always Dave Filoni’s commentary or a peek at next Friday’s ‘Cat and Mouse.’ (Cue debate on if there are cats and mice in the GFFA at all…)
Backlash takes to the bestseller lists

Jackson Crawford is ‘translating’ the Star Wars saga from Old Norse. Here’s a sample from the introduction:
Víga-Óbívan waits for Lúkr to attain manhood, and by now is himself an old man. When young Lúkr follows some lost sheep onto Víga-Óbívan’s property and is attacked by his retainers, Víga-Óbívan defends him and later tells Lúkr (who in a dream has been given his father’s byname, “himingangari,” by a dís, but is unaware that his father also bore it), that Lúkr’s father Anakinn was slain by Veiðari, the great captain of King Falfaðinn of Kóruskantborg.
It seems seems to be ongoing, and currently up to Chapter 6.
