Reddish arena, giant snarling alien monsters, forced combat… There’s a very Geonosis vibe to the new John Carter of Mars trailer, selling the Avataresque motion-capture and narrative. It’s deeply action-packed, but I don’t find it nearly as intriguing as the first trailer. (Kashmir? Really?) Still, I suppose it’ll work to sell the movie to the masses. Or not.
Video: Trailer for Pixar’s Brave
The full trailer for Brave – featuring Pixar’s first female protagonist, Merida, voiced by Kelly Macdonald – was released yesterday. It’s worth checking out the HD version as well.
Video: The Hunger Games trailer!
I watched Good Morning America to see this ASAP and it was awful. Luckily, the trailer was worth it.
Video: Third Red Tails trailer spends lots of time in the air
Which is to say, plenty of action in this one. Red Tails, which is produced by George Lucas and directed by Anthony Hemingway, will be in theaters January 20th.
Video: The Phantom Menace 3-D trailer, officially
After 20th Century Fox went on tear copyrighting all the fan versions to death, the official Star Wars Youtube account has posted a copy of The Phantom Menace‘s 3-D trailer in 2-D. It’s plagued by (different, darker) color issues, but it’s up. The new version seems to be color corrected.
Video: The Phantom Menace 3-D trailer
Curious about The Phantom Menace 3-D trailer, but not enough to pay to see The Three Musketeers or any of the weekend’s other 3-D offerings? TFN has a copy. TFN’s copy is kaput, but here’s a Youtube version. Found another. Cross your fingers.
Obviously it’s not in 3-D here, and the colors are a bit off – I’m told that’s a symptom of the re-conversion back into 2-D.
The Clone Wars S4 to premiere Sept. 16
The new season of The Clone Wars will debut the same day as the Star Wars Blu-rays are released. The premiere ‘event’ will be at an hour (two episodes, presumably) at 8 p.m. September 16 on Cartoon Network. You can check out the full press release at TFN.
And there’s a new trailer! Thanks to Big Shiny Robot for that one.
Video: Star Wars Blu-ray trailer
The teaser gives some glimpses at cut scenes and other extras. Teases!
Yes, there is a Star Wars porn parody
And the trailer is safe for work. It looks awful! Shocking.
Red Tails to take flight in January 2012
StarWars.com announced today the release date for Red Tails: January 20, 2012. The film, being produced by George Lucas and directed by Anthony Hemingway, focuses on the story of the Tuskegee airmen in World War II, and stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Bryan Cranston, and Ne-Yo.
January seems a telling time for Fox to release the film – it seems that it is neither going for Oscar contention nor summer blockbuster status, and it comes out less than a month before The Phantom Menace 3-D.
