SDCC video: Star Wars merchandise
Before we put the Comic Con files in the archives, I’ve got a few more videos to show from San Diego this past weekend. First up is a tour of some of the different licensees in the Lucasfilm area. We’ve already gotten a tour of the Her Universe booth with Ashley Eckstein, but now let’s take a look at:
- Chairs and beanbags from Red5inc
- Star Wars novels and guidebooks from Del Rey
- Anovos Productions‘ costumes and props (Wait! those aren’t Star Wars!)
- Purses, belts and other accessories from Rock Rebel
- Museum Replicas’ line of customizable Jedi outfits, Star Wars logo lamps and lightsaber umbrellas
Museum Replicas launching Jedi costume line
Casual cosplaying is about to get a whole lot easier – at least if you want to dress up as a Jedi. Museum Replicas is launching the “Become Your Own Jedi” costume line at SDCC today.
For the first time, fans can design and create their own complete and totally unique Jedi ensemble, utilizing replica costume pieces from the Star Wars films. All of the costume pieces in this collection were designed directly from the screen-used clothing, housed at the Lucasfilm Archives. Months of study and research have gone into making these costumes as close to the on-screen counterparts.
There’ll also be an “online Jedi Interactive Design Lab” to expediite the process for curious would-ve Jedi. The clothing can be purchased at MuseumReplicas.com.
Her Universe beaming up the Star Trek license!
First time, now space: Her Universe is adding another classic science fiction TV show with a gigantic fanbase to their repertoire: None other than the grand poobah itself, Star Trek! The line will make its con debut at SDCC, which I believe means it will be first available on July 11th along with Doctor Who and the new Syfy selections.
Wacky merchandise: Star Wars family car decals
I have never seen the appeal of this, even in fannish form, but if you really want every random tailgater to know the exact size and makeup of your family, you can now say it in Star Wars. There are plenty of options for fans of all stripes, and they are kind of cute, I guess.
Her Universe joins forces with Doctor Who!
It’s official! Her Universe and BBC Worldwide have hooked up to create a Doctor Who collection! The first four shirts feature the Tardis (of course) and a tribute to River Song. And the image Ashley revealed yesterday? It’s “a special Doctor Who logo just for female fans which will only appear on merchandise from the Her Universe collection.”
Doctor Who products coming to Her Universe?
That certainly seems to be what Ashley is implying, posting the image at right to Twitter and Facebook this afternoon, promising “a MAJOR announcement” tomorrow. Unless you know another fandom that revolves around blue boxes traveling through space and time…
(No, I don’t think it’s Bill and Ted!)
Five new SyFy shirts coming from Her Universe!
Her Universe is adding 5 new shirts to their SyFy collection on July 11th. Four are based on Battlestar Galactica – Logo racer tank, Tattoo v-neck, Starbuck and a So Say We All burnout – and one for Warehouse 13 – Claudia is awesome.
Kotobukiya’s Jaina Solo is finished?
Plastikitty spotted what looks like a finished version of Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo Jaina Solo on Big Bad Toy Store, and it certainly looks ready. The statue is 9 inches tall and is on pre-order for $54.99 – not all that bad a price, considering how much collector stuff usually goes for.
We first heard about the Jaina Solo Bishoujo statue at last year’s San Diego Comic Con. Still waiting on that Sideshow Mara figure, though…
UPDATE: You can see some other looks at the statue on io9.
One last offering from Hallmark for 2012: Momaw Nadon
Well, this is a random choice: Hallmark is offering a Momaw Nadon (ak Hammerhead) ornament as a limited-quanity offering.
Like the other new Keepsake Ornaments, this will be available in Hallmark stores beginning on July 14. Be sure to get there ASAP if you want Momaw, though: I hear these go fast.
