Indiana Jones game – not so canceled?

Video game site Kotaku discusses the trailer for the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings video game, coming for Wii, Nintendo DS and Playstation (likely for PSP). While previous rumors had indicated that the Indiana Jones next-gen video game that had been in development for years had been canceled, perhaps some of the story elements from that game got pushed into this one. Lao Che, Nazis, and ancient treasures — Indy’s back in action!

Rumor: Indiana Jones game canceled?

IGN had multiple sources saying that the in-development Indiana Jones game has been canceled. Kotaku has a vague response from LucasArts that could mean anything.

I’m not sure exactly how long it takes to make the things, but I believe the last we heard of it was early footage/teasers for it around the same time as The Force Unleashed was getting teased – back before Celebration IV. I’m inclined to write it off… Particularly after the long, rumorful runup to the The Old Republic announcement, or the years of buzz overload (okay, there were a few delays) that paved the way for The Force Unleashed. On the other hand, with Bioware handling TOR and TFU out and about, maybe Indy is next up on the LucasArts plate. No doubt we’ll hear something… eventually.

Dr. Horrible, The Dark Knight, and Heroes rack up People’s Choice Awards

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog has won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Online Sensation, in the 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards, beating out other such online sensations as “Paris Hilton’s response to McCain ad”. In the other geeky categories, Heroes nabbed the spot for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show, Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman got favorite superhero, and Christian and Heath beat out Harrison and Shia for Favorite On Screen Match Up. The Dark Knight beat out Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Iron Man for both favorite movie and favorite action movie.

George Lucas still talking about Indy IV

I know I’m not along in facepalming every time the man talks about Indy IV – and I swear, I was mildly entertained by Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – but he’s doing it again. Luckily, Coming Soon also asks him about Star Wars 3-D (don’t hold your breath,) Red Tails (in casting,) Samuel L. Jackson (we’ve heard it) and directing, to which:

I’m getting rid of all my development. Everything that I’ve ever developed is going to be finished in about a year, a year and a half or two, and then I’m going to go do my own films.

Oh, George. Perhaps Clark will finally get an answer on those Howard the Duck sequels.

In less winceworthy news, how about his student film? Racecars! Vroom vroom! Yeah!

Appearing at this past weekend’s Firefly con in Burbank, QMX has released a double-sided map of the ‘Verse for Firefly/Serenity fans: Where in the ‘Verse is (Carmen) Miranda?

And some British archaeologists search for the facts while watching the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull DVD.

Luke’s saber, Indy’s fedora up for auction

It’s time for another Profiles in History auction! As always, they have plenty of neat movie props and memorabilia, and while it’s probably beyond most of our budgets, at least we can browse!

The Star Wars items start with Lot #345 and include Luke’s blue lightsaber, a piece of the Death Star, C-3PO’s hands and several Vader Project helmets! There’s plenty of Indiana Jones items as well, including a Temple of Doom fedora.

Drive-by movie news: Twilight, Watchmen, Indy 5

Cedric didn't die, he just went homeOH SHIT IT’S A TWILIGHT ENTRY, GET IN THE CAR. The reviews are not good (43%!) for the preteen squee event of the year, but since when has that ever made a difference at the box office? At the very least, we can hold out hope that the movie is better than the book. Just remember, ladies: stalking is not romantic, even if the guy is hot (well, ‘hot’) and comes with a lifetime supply of built-in body glitter.
