Wear Star Wars Every Day: Force Friday Podcast Listener Challenge is on today!

Happy #ForceFriday (or #RogueFriday) – Not only is it time to hit the retailers to see what cool Rogue One merchandise is out, but it’s also the big day for the Force Friday Podcast Listener Challenge for Wear Star Wars Every Day! As mentioned earlier, this is a big one-day push for donations to Collateral Repair Project, the nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance, education, and community support for urban refugees.

Which Star Wars-related podcast will show that its listeners have the biggest hearts? Listeners can show support for their favorite podcast by making a donation to CRP on the Wear Star Wars Every Day GoFundMe and listing their favorite show in the comments.


Nick at Coffee with Kenobi helped kick off this challenge, and he has set a goal for Coffee with Kenobi listeners: $500 in donations! Now Stephen at Beltway Banthas has answered the challenge, in a special episode just for this fundraising blitz: he thinks the listeners of Beltway Banthas can out-do Coffee with Kenobi – and they’ve already started! And we know that Full of Sith, Skywalking through Neverland, Brews and Blasters, Jedi News UK, Tosche Station Radio, and others are raring for their listeners to represent and make a difference!

Remember, if we raise a simple $75 just today, I’ll show off a really cool item of Star Wars wear: a one-of-a-kind game-worn signed Durham Bulls R2-D2 baseball jersey, lent by Nick at Coffee with Kenobi, who obtained it by donating in a charity auction for the Autism Society of North Carolina in 2014. Now it’s back to help another great cause!

Week 38 of #WearStarWarsEveryDay saw the first day of autumn, and a good week of Star Wars wear as we got the word out about the Star Wars podcast listener challenge for Force Friday (Sept. 30). Huge thanks to our donors in this time period on the GoFundMe for Collateral Repair Project: Anonymous, James Malloy, and Mike Cooper. Also big thanks to Kristen who donated one of the shirts I wore this week, and thanks to everyone else who lent me some Star Wars apparel for this week: Patricia, James, Paul, Caitlin, Shauna, and James! Yup, everything worn this week was from you all, my fellow Star Wars fans!

Tomorrow, September 30, is Force Friday (or Rogue Friday), when many stores will be finally putting out Rogue One merchandise for sale. Don’t forget that we are also doing a special one-day fundraising drive for Collateral Repair Project for listeners of Star Wars podcasts. So if you want to show that listeners of your favorite show are the most generous Star Wars fans, chip in on the GoFundMe and leave a note in the comments box about which podcast you’re representing! Wear Star Wars Every Day: Week 37


#WearStarWarsEveryDay kicked off a new challenge: the Star Wars podcast listener challenge for Force Friday (Sept. 30). Otherwise, just a regular week in wearing different Star Wars clothes every day – no new donations in Week 37, but we’ve already gotten some for Week 38. Thanks to everyone who has lent me a t-shirt that I’ve worn this week: Patricia, Bryan, Donna, James, and Lori!

Remember, every day I wear a new and different Star Wars apparel item, my daily pledge makers will chip in $4.65 to Collateral Repair Project! This week, we’ve got a mashup of The Force Awakens and The Little Prince, Admiral Ackbar for Rebel Legion, and some throwbacks to the past: classic posters, SW:CCG cards, stuff from two Celebration Europes, and one that was worn to the first Star Wars Celebration. Plus I recently got to talk up the Wear Star Wars Every Day charity fundraising campaign to my friends, Sarah and Rich, on the Skywalking Through Neverland podcast.

Wear Star Wars Every Day: Force Friday Podcast Listener Challenge

As my Wear Star Wars Every Day charity fundraising campaign approaches the end of 9 months of wearing a different Star Wars-themed clothing item every day, it’s time to kick the fundraising up a notch, and Nick DiColandrea at Coffee with Kenobi has helped me find a way. In the past few months, several Star Wars podcasts, including Galactic Fashion, Skywalking through Neverland, and Coffee with Kenobi have had me as a guest to talk up my fundraising effort for Collateral Repair Project, a nonprofit that provides assistance, education, and community support for urban refugees in Amman, Jordan.

But now, Coffee with Kenobi has put out a challenge to their listeners to turn Force Friday (September 30) into a Force for good: making a one-day fundraising blitz for Wear Star Wars Every Day and Collateral Repair Project! And I’m putting out the call to other Star Wars podcasts to see who has the awesomest listeners.

So on Force Friday, September 30th, 2016, we’re having a one-day fundraising challenge. Every podcast can encourage their listeners to donate via the GoFundMe, and mention their podcast name in the comments. Nick at Coffee with Kenobi has set an ambitious goal of $500 raised just from Coffee with Kenobi listeners – who thinks that their podcast can do better than that?

So while you’re out stocking up on Rogue One merchandise, maybe toss a little bit of your Star Wars toy budget towards making life a little easier for refugees. I’ve got a cool shirt I’m saving for Force Friday, but if at least $75 gets donated, I’ll wear a bonus clothing item and post of a photo of that – a signed game-worn Durham Bulls R2-D2 jersey! (Remember, daily photos get posted on the Wear Star Wars Every Day Facebook page and on Twitter using #WearStarWarsEveryDay.

Week 36 of #WearStarWarsEveryDay finishes up Salt Lake Comic Con and hits the milestone of Day 250! Wear Star Wars Every Day: Week 35 and August prize drawing winners!


Since August is not known for its holidays, I turned the last week of August into the #WearStarWarsEveryDay events and holidays week, celebrating some fun fan events and some random holidays, none of which are in August! Plus we have some nice donations to report! Big thanks to Jennifer, Ian, Tim, and an anonymous donor for helping us raise over $80 in the past week, pushing us up to almost $2,600 raised for Collateral Repair Project.

Wear Star Wars Every Day moves into August with some summer Star Wars fashions! Week 31 wraps up July and kicks off the 8th month, then Week 32 is all about BB-8, since the 8th day of the 8th month falls during this week! We’ve got shirts, shirts, shirts, and a belt!

Due to the August prize drawings, we’ve had a nice uptick in donations in this two-week period, so huge thanks to Kismet, Nancy, Fen, Mark, and Anonymous! That’s over $300 in just two weeks, including one person who paid their entire year’s daily pledge at once! Big thanks to Scott and Brian for donating shirts. Wear Star Wars Every Day: Weeks 28, 29, & 30


It’s been a busy few weeks for me, but rest assured, #WearStarWarsEveryDay is still going strong! Now that I’ve gotten to recover a bit from the marathon of Celebration Europe and San Diego Comic-Con, I’ve made the recap video for the past three weeks. We’ve got a ton of t-shirts, a random polo shirt, a Jar Jar baseball jersey and First Order soccer jersey, and even a dress in this batch of wear for charity. Yup, I show some leg. Big thanks to Brian, Sam, and Walt for donating shirts (all at Celebration Europe). And thanks to everyone who has lent me apparel that I’ve worn in these three weeks: James, Paul, Christine, Anastasia, Daniel, Michael, Mark, Danielle, and Mediocre Jedi!
