Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
There have been rumors swirling around the collecting site last week that the Droid Factory line was canceled… And now it’s been confirmed. Why is this relevant to us? Well, the Mara Jade Skywalker figure we were sorta/kinda excited for was part of that line, which means we won’t be seeing it this spring.
Hasbro’s release says that many of the Droid Factory figures will become part of a new line for the fall – hopefully the Mara figure will be among them.
Dawn of the Jedi. Del Rey has posted a blurb for Tim Lebbon’s Into the Void, the first novel tie-in to the comic series. It reveals the novel’s protagonist, Je’daii Lanoree Brock. Always nice to see another female lead!
Previews. Jedi News has first looks from Dark Horse at standalone Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin, the Lost Tribe of the Sith: Spiral trade and what looks to be the first Legacy omnibus.
Comics. Brian Wood’s very upcoming Star Wars comics, Scoundrels, and The Clone Wars got some love from USA Today this weekend, including another cover and some extra preview material for the comic.
Interviews. Fangirl Blog continues their talk with Troy Denning. He hints a bit about Crucible, revealing that it’s a “Han-driven” book.
Reviews. James is underwhelmed by Purge: The Tyrant’s Fist #2.
So now that we’ve talked about the big 100 episode milestone, let’s a take a peek at episode 100 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars: ‘Missing in Action’. Continuing the adventures of Artoo-Detoo and his companions of D-Squad from ‘Secret Weapons’ and ‘A Sunny Day in the Void’, the crash-landed droids and their leader, the pint-sized Colonel Gascon, have reached a town on the desolate world of Abafar, and encounter Gregor, a Republic Commando with no memory of how he became missing in action. Their ultimate mission? Steal a shuttle and get back to the Republic, and if they can get this grizzled dishwasher to remember his military training, they might just have a chance. In the first trailer above, Artoo and Gascon reveal the truth to Gregor, and his full identification is revealed in the second trailer below. There’s lots of buzz out there to celebrate Star Wars: The Clone Wars hitting the 100 episode milestone! Variety magazine has got a buffet of light articles on the show:
Also, Channel Guide Magazine has a good interview with Dave Filoni on reaching the big one hundred mark, whether he would go back to special edition the original Clone Wars movie, and the change from Friday night to Saturday morning. StarWars.com has a big pile of quotes from the cast and crew on the occasion.
And, if you missed it, you really should check out the five minute trailer summing up the past 4.5 seasons with some peeks at what is to come (and who is noticeably missing)!

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard it hinted that a woman may be leading the new movies, but Sciretta seems oddly confidant.
There are plenty of options for characters, Expanded Universe or no Expanded Universe, and 2012 was a banner year for female-led action movies – with three more Hunger Games films and a female Expendables (for instance) on the horizon, there’s certainly momentum.

Is my long hoped-for Star Wars nail polish line pretty much inevitable? In the spring, OPI will have a collection inspired by Disney’s Oz: The Great And Powerful.
One would expect an Oz collection to have a more vibrant selection of colors (ahem) not be relegated to the generally boring ‘soft shades’ line, but, well. Let’s hope that if Star Wars ever gets in on the action, it’ll be something more in the vein of the James Bond or Muppet collections.
What’s George Lucas going to do now that he’s sold his company to Disney? Get married, naturally.
Lucas and longtime girlfriend Mellody Hobson are engaged, a Lucasfilm rep confirmed to the The Hollywood Reporter. The couple talked about their relationship when they appeared on Oprah’s Next Chapter last year.
Hobson is the president of the Chicago-based investment management firm Ariel Investments LLC, chairman of DreamWorks Animation and regularly appears on Good Morning America to talk finance.
This will be Hobson’s first marriage and Lucas’ second. He split with first wife Marcia Lucas in 1983.
Starting off 2013 this Saturday is the one hundredth episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Entertainment Weekly celebrates this milestone with a cool video highlighting the past four and a half seasons and gives a few sneak peeks at the remainder of season five.

As you may recall – or not, depending on how much partying was done last night, today is the release of Timothy Zahn’s Scoundrels. You know, that book some of us wouldn’t shut up about for most of 2012?
Well, it’s finally here. If you’re not eBook-equipped and not ready to change out of your party clothes/pajamas quite yet, Timothy Zahn chatted with Knights Archive, This Blog Is Full of Words and Roqoo Depot. RD also posted their review, as did Big Shiny Robot, Tosche Station, Jedi News and EUCantina.
Comic fans won’t be left out in the cold this week, either. Look for Purge: The Tyrant’s Fist #2 in the shops on Wednesday. There actually was a release last week at well: the third Clone Wars omnibus, The Republic Falls.
What else do we have coming up this month? Well, Brian Wood’s Star Wars #1 ought to debut next week, and the final Fate of the Jedi book, Troy Denning’s Apocalypse, will be out in paperback on the 29th.
