I don’t know if it’ll work, but we can certainly try. While the novels thus far have mainly featured Leia, Jaina, and Mara (with varying results) it looks like the field may be widening for female protagonists who aren’t major movie characters, married to major movie characters, or children of major movie characters. (And is Padme really persona non grata for EU fans?)
Behold, the next three years of Star Wars publishing, ranked by CJ readers. Most of you seem to be looking forward to Fate of the Jedi: This poll also got more votes than the second, 172 to 143. Of the second poll, which asked you to choose from among the rest of the new contract’s fiction (at least those that we have some detail on) the clear winners were those that have established fanbases: Cunningham’s Blood Oath, featuring charter member of the Jaina Solo harem, Zekk; Irvine’s Knights of the Old Republic novel, set just before the popular games; Traviss’ Imperial Commando; and Drew Karpyshyn’s third Darth Bane novel. The rest are certain to see their stock rise as we get more details.
The response to our Fate of the Jedi poll was pretty clear: Most of you (58%) are sure to be reading it, 24% are waiting to hear more before you decide, and only 19% have given up entirely (and/or were never big EU readers to begin with.) I’ll make a pretty pie chart after we finish our latest poll, though: Which of the other upcoming novels tickle your fancy the most? Vote below the cut or on the sidebar. Our latest poll is about the big post-LOTF series that was (finally!) annouced last week, Fate of the Jedi. Featuring authors Aaron Allston, Christie Golden, and Troy Denning, FOTJ will be the first major Star Wars series to come out entirely in hardcover since Zahn’s Thrawn trilogy back in the early 90’s. The first book, Allston’s Outcast, is due next spring. Will you be reading? Vote on the sidebar or under the cut. Continue reading “Poll: Fate of the Jedi and you”
We had seven talented teams: Which would you pick to be the overall winner? Head beneath the cut to vote for the teams in our poll, and post your favorite individual looks in the comments! Continue reading “Pick your favorite Project Runway team!”
It’s not the greatest weekend for Star Wars at the box office: AP reports that the animated film took in $15.5 million, coming in third behind Tropic Thunder ($26M) and The Dark Knight ($16.8M.) Respectable, but not exactly the kind of figures we’re used to seeing… Plus, TDK also rolled over the original Star Wars’ to become the second highest grossing film, as it’s been threatening to for weeks. Bummer.
Since Rotten Tomatoes still isn’t calculating, here are some reviews from the majors: The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Empire. We’ll start getting the bulk of them later this week. When I’m on a plane and most of CJ will be getting drunk. Great timing, huh?
Addicted to KOTOR? Obsessed with Legacy? Have you not had enough of these motherbleeping clones? Or are you kicking it old-school with the OT and New Republic? We want to know which eras of the GFFA appeal to you the most. Vote on the sidebar or under the cut – choose as many or as few as you like. Continue reading “Poll: Your favorite eras”
