Not too much excitement this week… The latest Insider should start showing up this week; I’m sure you’re looking forward to the puns. (Though don’t look for much more than that as far as CV coverage goes; That’s coming in the next issue. Isn’t print fantastic?) Wednesday, on the other hand, brings a Dark Empire trilogy hardcover, perfect for the completest in you.
Sue Rostoni just posted that she’s received Timothy Zahn’s manuscript for his upcoming Star Wars novel – and that the book, which we’ve known as Choices and Hand of Judgment, now has yet another title: Choices of One.
Criticizing the titles of Star Wars novels is like shooting fish in a barrel and Hand of Judgment wasn’t some great prize, but… Choices of One? Really? It just makes me think of a crossover between Wheaties and those lame army commercials. Meh.
Meanwhile, Paul S. Kemp has tweeted a brief peek at his upcoming Crosscurrent sequel, Riptide:
“Indeed,” Grandmaster Skywalker said. “The dark side is at work through more than the clones. Be careful, Jaden.”
Are you one of the dozen or so EU fans deeply invested in timelines and whether the ones that are published in the books are complete? If so, it’s your lucky day: Suvudu has posted a PDF of the new one which includes everything an novel obsessive will need. (Theoretically, anyway. But my slavish attachment to informed opinion about reading in publication order is another post entirely.)

Alex Irvine wrote on his blog Friday that the tentative title for his upcoming Star Wars novel – the one featuring Nomi Sunrider – is Mandorla. The term is Italian for almond and a term for a symbol used in Medieval art. What it means to Star Wars has yet to be determined.
While the art term may give us a hint at the book’s content, I honestly doubt it’ll end up being a final title because of the existing associations. (We’re already seeing folks jump to conclusions on the boards.) A question is in to Sue Rostoni at StarWars.com, so perhaps we’ll get some clarification after the holiday.
TheForce.net found an Irvine interview from 2009 that confirms a Mandalorian link:
AI: I really can’t say much. The story develops the relationship between Nomi and Vima Sunrider and involves a resurgent threat from Sith and Mandalorian forces. Plus I introduce a new character that I’m really enjoying, a sort of interstellar scavenger who runs across some artifacts that are a little more than he can handle.
Oh, bother.
UPDATE (9/08:) Irvine has addressed the title again, clarifying just how tentative it is:
I see that my maundering about a possible title for the Star Wars book has caused more of a ripple than I’d expected, or intended. Just so we’re clear: That’s not anything like a final title. That was me thinking out loud. No telling yet what the final title of the book will be.
Honestly, I can take or leave the title: I’m mostly bothered by how it may reflect on the Mandalorian content of the book. Shouldn’t this flavor-of-the-month have run its course by now?
During a panel at Dragon*Con, Ashley Eckstein said to be on the lookout for a Mara Jade tee next spring or summer. I’m pretty sure that would be a first – at least for a licensee!

Start keeping an eye out for Ryder Windham’s Millennium Falcon: A 3-D Owner’s Guide. Comic fans can head out Wednesday for a pair of reprints: The Old Republic—Threat of Peace #3 and The Clone Wars: Hero of the Confederacy.
Quinlan Vos making the jump to TV? Yakface spotted a Clone Wars action figure of the character, who was originally slated to appear (but didn’t) in the S1 episode ‘Bombad Jedi.’ Signs are good that Master Vos will finally get his day in the sun… Also curious? The character resembles Dave Filoni. Maybe we’ll see Vos play buddy cop with Plo Koon?
Speaking of comics… Techland has a two-part interview with Star Wars comic editors Randy Stradley and Dave Marshall. Part I covers Marvel and the early years of Dark Horse’s involvement with the franchise and what’s coming up; Part II goes into more detail with the process and challenges.
