“Will Zahn Dare to Do It?” It being Luke/Leia twincest. I don’t know about you, but when I think of Star Wars authors willing to flirt with sibling-on-sibling action, Tim Zahn is the first person that comes to mind.
When fanboys attack (each other)
I waffled back and forth on this one – while certainly relevant to fandom, these interviews with Star Wars spoilerfolks get pretty obscure if you weren’t a part of the spoiler scene. (Let’s put it this way: Once the discussion gets past TFN, Jedinet, Starwarz, etc, even I fail to recognize half of the sites being discussed. And I was by no means spoiler-free.)
Joshua Griffin, surprisingly, makes the best impression; T’bone, for all he denies it, comes off like someone hauling around a very bad case of sour grapes; Fatboy Roberts has the most interesting historical perspective; there’s one more yet to go, but although I remember Episode X I have no clue who this Tai person is, so I’ll just let it go.
But whatever your position, the interviews form an intriguing look at one of fandom’s more cutthroat periods.
TFN thread of the indeterminate time period
“The biggest problem with Star Wars books today.” The real meat of the matter comes from Carnage04 a little more than halfway down, and it boils down to a simple fact: you can’t please everyone. (And that goes double for TFN.)
Gaming roundup
BusinessWeek looks a the future of Star Wars gaming. It’s a nice roundup of upcoming games and what may be lurking in the wings – although no platform, not the Xbox 360, has been announced for the ‘Star Wars 2007’/Force Powers’ – The one with the demo where you throw Stormtroopers – yet.
In another corner of the ‘net, IGN has a theory… Could the 2007 game contain hints for the live-action TV series?
And you can finish off the required gaming reads of the day with a short history of LucasArts.
I sense much wank in you…
It’s National RetCon Week at TFN. Let the nitpickery begin!
What’s up with TFN? Not much…
In the past week, it seems that TheForce.net, Star Wars fandom’s most popular fansite, has been down. And up. And down. A lot. Their message boards are working, though most of the time all the graphics and styles appear stripped away. (I actually find this much easier on the eyes than the usual design chaos, but it seems most don’t agree.) I ventured into the boards seeking answers, but found little but vagueness and confused users. So is it an April Fools joke? Did Philip Wise forget to pay the server bill? Trekkie DOS attack? Sister site Rebelscum (which seems to be running just fine) eating its own? Only time will tell. Until then, I shrug.
TFNish Thread of the Week
There’s a lovely TheForce.Net flamefest regarding clones and numbers in the EU that ended up on Fandom Wank this weekend… Where it is unmercifully mocked. And you all know how much I love the mocking: I can’t help but share.
Warning: Not for the sensitive, faint-hearted, or anyone offended by mention of Jedi having sex. Fandom Wankers are notoriously distracted by the possibility of Ewan getting it on.
TFN Thread of the Week
The Church of Waru. There are people on TFN who have a sense of humor! A hundred and thirty five pages worth! Okay, so it’s mostly a chat thread… Still! Praise Waru!
TFN Thread of the Week
What is Mara Jade’s Canon Length of a SSD in Vergere’s Potentium? If you’ve ever spent any time at all on an Expanded Universe forum, this is hilarious. Although sadly the thread on the whole fails to live up to the title when people actually start taking things semi-seriously. Oh TFN, will you ever change?
TFN Thread of the Week
Is Kevin J. Anderson a Scientologist? Is he? Isn’t he? Doesn’t really matter. But the thread title caused me to laugh maniacally, and that’s more than enough reason to link.
