For once, I want to be kidnapped by the sexy alien

It’s amazing how nice it is to enjoy a new episode of Stargate when you already know they’re coming back next year. Joe Mallozzi spoke to GateWorld about it. He won’t have time later, as Season 5 planning kicks off today! (After Joe gets done terrorizing Nigerian scam artists, that is.)

Good thing that SciFi already made their decision to renew as the ratings for Reunion came in about even.

In non-ratings-related stuff, the ever-charming Carmen Argenziano (Jacob/Selmak) chats with GateWorld about the love he has for Stargate.

And the natives rejoice

Just found this on Variety (since SciFi seems to be having issues, this morning).

Stargate Atlantis has been renewed for Season 5!

Although the show has been averaging around the same as the rest of the network on the regular Nielson numbers, SciFi was supposedly asking for more. Thankfully, adding in the DVR and iTunes numbers has helped to demonstrate that it’s a bigger hit than the Nielson’s show. (No, really?)

Color me pleased….

Gate into Season 4

Big thanks to Dunc for giving me (um, us!) a Stargate category! I am truly honored that blabbing incessantly about a show for long enough will eventually be recognized.

So a few things going on in Gateland…
– Still no final ratings numbers for Adrift. What does this mean for how we’re looking to SciFi’s eyes? (Y’know, the people with their hands over the button that could nuke the series?) Torture! [Note: This blog entry contains the beginnings of a discussion about this week’s episode. Be careful if you don’t want to know!]
– Well, David Nykl (Zelenka) is fairly optimistic. Let’s hope he’s right!
– Back to Joe Mallozzi, he has posted a more in-depth discussion about this week’s episode, Reunion.
– And some really funny Q&A videos with Jason Momoa (Ronon) and Joe Flanigan (John). Be careful what handle you use when sending in those questions! You could be teased mercilessly.

Gate Geekiness Round-Up

Tonight, our intrepid Stargate Atlantis warriors pull an Oceans Eleven on SciFi (10pm, Eastern) in the episode Lifeline.

Please watch. Ratings (without DVR and iTunes factored in) were okay, but not stunning. (Or strong and poised for greater success, depending on whether or not you’re an optimist or pessimist.) Yes, Flash Gordon will suck the life out of you, but you can watch another channel and head on over after it’s done. (This message not brought to you by Team Stargate, but heartfelt, all the same.)

In other Gate news:
– My bad. iTunes gives the fourth episode of the season to people who tried to buy the first episode of the season. That production order number will get you every time!
– There’s a game. It’s fun.
– A slightly more complex Stargate game.
– Pretty pictures.
– Yes, Paul McGillion did, indeed, audition for the role of Scotty in Star Trek.
– The cool thing about television is you get to see how you’d look in fifty years. (Spoilers!)

Stargate Atlantis Friday!

Oh, won’t you be pleased when the new season of Stargate Atlantis finally gets going tonight? (10pm, Eastern, on SciFi) The roar of pre-season media hype will soon settle and help to keep down my geeky posts. But Club Jade stupidly said I could post on Stargate, so far be it from me to shirk my responsibilities.

Today’s nifty Stargate news:
– Great GateWorld interview with Tori Higginson about the Season 4 changes. (Don’t read, if you haven’t already heard.) Bottom line? Don’t be a hater, people.
– David Hewlett talks about the joys of working with beautiful women and productions of the film and human kind
– More from Amanda Tapping and Jewel Staite on their move to SGA.

Again. A wee bit spoilery, but nothing new if you’ve been watching the internet at all.

SGA This Friday. News at Eleven.

So it looks like a full-court press for Stargate Atlantis, this year. Both MGM and SciFi have been offering up the interviews and press events to get the word out that the new season of Stargate Atlantis starts this Friday at 10pm, Eastern, on SciFi.

A round-up of the coverage:
– Amanda Tapping (Samantha Carter) can be found on GateWorld, SyFyPortal and MultiChannelJewel Staite (formerly of Firefly, now Dr. Keller) shares the love with GateWorld.

– And Rachel Luttrell (Teyla Emmagan) shares some broad stroke story tidbits and her surprise at how well the producers took the news of her pregnancy.

Gate Round-Up

Have I mentioned, lately, that the new season of Stargate Atlantis starts up this Friday on SciFi? I have? Just wanted to make sure.

In anticipation of this event, there is tons of Stargate news to be had. Please don’t let that deluge keep you from tuning in on Friday, though. I’d like a Season 5, please, and the first few episodes’ ratings apparently will make it or break it.

The highlights:
– GateWorld interviews Jewel Staite who really hopes the fans will give her a chance as she’s friends with Paul McGillion and didn’t think she was replacing him.
– Rachel Luttrell is pretty happy with Teyla’s storyline in Season 4
– The men rejoice, Kari Wuhrer has been cast in an upcoming episode
– Michael Shanks didn’t manage to completely avoid the cold while filming the upcoming Stargate movies. Plus playing with real F-15’s. It doesn’t suck to be an actor

Stargate actors are doing things outside the series, as well:
– Richard Dean Anderson will be hosting the Dublin release of Halo 3. Okay.
– David Hewlett‘s movie A Dog’s Breakfast managed to crack the Top 100 on Amazon. Plus now, there’s a soundtrack! Still no Hewlett 2.0, though.
– And there’s still time to bid on a duffle bag signed by the SG-1 cast to benefit an Atlantis crew member’s son. Too late to bid? You can still make donations.
