No, we’re not familiar with this at all.
Video: Nostalgia Chick looks for The Last Unicorn
This isn’t the best Nostalgia Chick, but it’s The Last Unicorn! It was my favorite movie as a kid – I watched it so much that my mother hates it to this day – so I couldn’t not post it. And hey, Christopher Lee!
I can’t believe that it was made by the same guys who did that horrible animated Lord of the Rings. That cartoon is why it took Peter Jackson four-plus hours and a cliffhanger to get me to actually read the trilogy.
Meanwhile, the Nostalgia Critic has a tribute to two other staples of my childhood, Siskel and Ebert. (Is that weird? That the syndicated tv show of two movie critics is a staple of my childhood? TOO BAD.)
Movie news: Sequels, reboots, steampunk, Michael Bay and other things you’re probably sick of
Pirates 4 to go steampunk? Disney gave Johnny Depp a (anti?) hero’s welcome at D23 last week and announced the film’s name – On Stranger Tides – but the most interesting thing I’ve heard in connection with the movie is a rumor that the villian may be cribbing from Captain Nemo. On the one hand that could be kind of cool. On the other hand… It’s Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Not sick of steampunk yet? If there’s any truth to this, you will be.
- Just like old times. J.J. Abrams and Roberto Orci hint that the next Star Trek movie will deal with “modern-day issues.”
- It’s never too soon for a reboot! Or a prequel. Yes, X-Men: First Class may be next on the Marvel X-Movie slate. Of course, the Fantastic Four are actually getting a reboot, nevermind that they just made two movies. Nobody runs your iconic properties into the ground like Hollywood!
- Twilight. New Moon actually has enough of a plot for it to be given away entirely in the trailer? Kristen Stewart actually attempts to act? Dakota Fanning is in it! Wow, my standards are low for this one…
- Randomly. Nostalgia Chick takes on Armageddon.
Robot Chicken goes old-school for DVD release
Seth Green and Matt Senreich are launching the Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II DVD with a nine-city roller rink tour. They’ll be hitting San Diego (yes, during Comic-Con,) Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, Kansas City, Indianapolis, Richmond, Philadelphia, and New York. Time to google some hair-feathering tips!
And while we’re on the topic, check out the Nostalgia Chick’s review of Xanadu.

Speaking of low culture, here’s some righteous mocking of a gem from my own childhood. (You’ll also want to watch her take on Labyrinth.)

I think he needs more whiskey. Let’s take up a collection. (Via the nutcases of #eu.)
