EU newsbits: Details from Irvine, YA, interviews

More new contract fallout: Alex Irvine details the timing of his ‘ancient Jedi’ novel on his blog:

…Yours truly is going to be writing a novel set just before the Knights of the Old Republic storyline. Since I am one of those guys who saw the movie (you know, The Movie; you know the one I mean) a dozen times the summer it came out, this is kind of a dream come true. Viva la Geek! Plus, there are some interesting open spaces in the continuity from that period, which give me a lot of room to work.

Isn’t that what the comics are doing? Oh well: I won’t even pretend to be an expert on that time period. (Some have speculated that this could be related to the still-rumored KOTOR MMO, but aren’t direct game tie-ins handled by separate contracts?)

Out this week: TFU, O66, KOTOR

Stuff is sure to blow up real good in Tuesday’s releases. First off is the much-hyped game that has been impossible to avoid lately, The Force Unleashed. You can even pick it up tonight if the mood strikes. For those who prefer their ass-kicking without the baggage of required hardware, tomorrow also sees the release of the fourth and final Republic Commando novel, Order 66.

Meanwhile, comic fans can expect Knights of the Old Republic #33 on Wednesday.

Looking ahead: December comics, Insider

StarWars.com has Dark Horse’s solicitations for December 2009, including the Vector finale (aka Legacy #31,) The Clone Wars #3, Knights of the Old Republic #36, the fifth Legacy collection and a couple of Indiana Jones titles.

Coming to stores a bit sooner (September 16th) is Star Wars Insider #104 with a heavy focus on (of course) The Clone Wars and The Force Unleashed. Other content? A look back at Star Tours, the Holiday Special and an interview with Dennis Muren.

Expanded Universe newsbits: Rebel Force, TFU, Gilroy interviewed, KOTOR #33 previewed

Out this week: Coruscant Knights, Legacy, Rebellion/Vector, Knights of the Old Republic

Coruscant Nights: Street of ShadowsWow, is it time for Coruscant Nights: Street of Shadows already? The new Michael Reaves book should be in stores today. Also keep an eye out for The Dark Lord Trilogy trilogy, a trade omnibus that collects Labyrinth of Evil by James Luceno, Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Stover, and Luceno’s Dark Lord.

Don’t worry, comic fans: There’s plenty for you on Wednesday. The much-anticipated Darth Wyyrlok-focused Legacy #27, Rebellion #16 aka Vector part 8, and the fourth Knights of the Old Republic trade, Daze of Hate, Knights of Suffering. Punny!
