I am very sad that I can’t find this Princess Leia headband on Archie McPhee’s site yet. But if it’s on their Flickr, it can’t be that long in coming, right? RIGHT?
Gear up for Rebelscum’s annual Star Wars Halloween costume contest
Rebelscum will start accepting entries for their costume contest tomorrow through November 2nd.
Star Wars zombies in Minneapolis will rebel for tasty brains, or maybe just beer
A legion of the undead, including these Star Wars folks, made their way through Minneapolis last Saturday for the Zombie Pub Crawl. (Photos by Chris Baker.)
The Tauntaun sleeping bag is coming! Really!
A prank no more! ThinkGeek (newly redesigned!) will be selling their internet-famous Tauntaun Sleeping Bag for real come November. Or you could win one in their Geeky Pumpkin Template Design Contest Extravaganza.
My first inkling of this was a tweet from Lucasfilm’s Leland Chee (@HolocronKeeper,) who also confirmed that a (licensed) lightsaber Wii remote will soon be available. Okay, so the Wii thing is old news, but my memory isn’t what it used to be… At least not for game peripherals.
Let the Halloween costume mocking officially begin!
Star Wars Shop has a bunch of standard original trilogy costumes – your cheapie Hans, Lukes, and stormtroopers and et cetera – but perhaps the most horrifying? The Jabba costume. What self-respecting adult would wear this in real life? Sadly, I’m pretty sure there are several of you out there. And I demand photos.
Though I have to love that they picked the lost Backstreet Boy to model Luke, and one of the Hardy Boys for Han.
Rebelscum’s Halloween ’08 Costume winners
Rebelscum posted their 2008 Costume Contest Winners winners last night. Erin (Maris Brood) and Kristin (Zombie Leia,) above, took first and second place in the adult category. The wee Wicket is Oliver, and while he didn’t place, he is adorable!
Halloween flashback: Into the LFL archives
StarWars.com has an extensive slideshow of costume product images scanned in – hilariously – from old-school photo albums. Never had any of these myself, but remember the style well enough to can almost smell the plastic from those horrible masks… shudder.
For costumes that will actually wow folks in the here and now, check out this homemade AT-ST suit. There’s plenty of time to make your own for next year!
Uh-oh, it’s Halloween!
Halloween kinda snuck up on me this year – clearly I haven’t been looking at our referral logs as the numbers rise with people looking for ‘Star Wars pumpkins’ and other tokens of the season. Those are already dying off, but for you last-minute Googlers, check out StarWars.com’s collection of crafts, audio, and costumes. You can also check out our halloween tag, though no guarantees all the links will still work.
UPDATE: Halloween Bantha Tracks.
Yoda pumpkin just the right amount of scary
StarWars.com has instructions from Lawrence Noble on how to make a spooky Yoda pumpkin.
Happy Mandoween
There’s some Republic Commando love over at Penny Arcade, just in time for Halloween! I think I’d want to be Ordo…
