We’ve had a few editions to the Celebration VI guest list in these past few days: Repping for the sound team are Ben Burtt, Matthew Wood and David Acord, while Jon Berg and Lorne Peterson represent the model makers.
Reed is also looking for Orlando fan tips on Twitter. Somehow I doubt my suggestions of ‘stay inside’ and ‘curse Florida’ will make the final cut. Feel free to let loose with your Florida-centric snark: This is a safe space, my fellow Florida-haters!
You can now order a t-shirt with Yoda all aglow in the Celebration VI logo. You can only get this design through pre-order at $30 (U.S.) You must have a ticket to order.
Also available is the souvenir program for $20. However, it appears that will be available on-site.
Ian McDiarmid, aka Emperor Palpatine, will be making his first appearance at a U.S. Celebration in Orlando this August. He’ll appear on stage and, yes, in the autograph farm.
We had a handful of guest announcements yesterday headlined by the man behind (inside?) Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew. Also: Performer/puppeteers Tim Rose and Paul Springer, makeup artist Nick Maley and actor Trevor Butterfield.
And, finally, Pete Morrison at Lightsaber Rattling took a look at the dramatis personae of Star Wars novels from the last few years and did a gender breakdown that showed male characters outnumber females almost 2 to 1.
Say what you will about EUC’s post, but it certainly got fandom talking!
Get your X-Wings in bulk. Knights Archive found a listing on Random Houses’ Smart Archive for an eBook bundle of the X-Wing novels. There’s no price yet, but it does include all the classic Stackpole and Allston books and goes on sale July 30th. That’s cutting it a little close for those who want to catch up or reread: Allston’s X-Wing: Mercy Kill will be out the very next week.
Well, they promised us Celebration announcements, are here they are: Carrie Fisher will be back for her third appearance at the con. Also confirmed: Jeremy Bulloch and Daniel Logan, along with the news that this year’s art helmet will be Fett’s. And another Clone Wars guest, CG Supervisor Joel Aron, who will teach “master class sessions” in the lecture hall.
And, of course, to bring us the ‘no duh’ component, the family room will return.
Of a bit more interest is the fan table lineup. I’m not surprised by the amount of costume clubs, but I am a little sad that Wookieepedia is the only straight-up fansite. But then again, all us fansite folks are going to way too busy covering stuff to sit around manning tables..
Yes, we’ve been so starved for actual news about Celebration VI that even this is news. And yes, we were all totally expecting this. But MTV’s Woodsy has confirmed that there will be Celebration VI announcements. And that’s good enough for me.
Also: An online Clone Wars marathon, eCards, a free app, some sales, and etc. But Celebration VI news is what we really want, yes? (Well, and new Her Universe stuff.)
Also, you should stock up on reaction GIFs, because I’m thinking of starting the day off here with a GIF party. Thoughts?
Been procrastinating on your Celebration plans? Well, you better decide now: OnPeak has opened up more rooms for the con, and if the past is any indication, they won’t last! (via)
