Lucasfilm has announced who’s handling the 3-D conversion: Prime Focus, a company that’s worked on Avatar, Shrek, Tron: Legacy and Sucker Punch. Check out the press release on StarWars.com.
The Phantom Menace will be the first out the gate in 3-D on February 10, 2012, with the other films following yearly.
Well, Avatar had great 3D. Haven’t seen any of the others (well, I have seen Shrek, bust not any of the 3D ones), so I’m hoping this is a good sign.
Oh gods no… I hate 3-D.
I think 3D should be amusing, at the least.
If it’s done well, all the films will look amazing in 3D.
If it’s done badly (like most 3D films released nowadays), then it’s definitely not worth the price of a cinema ticket.
At the moment, it looks like it could go either way…
Avatar and Tron do not really make it seem like it could go either way. Those were pretty stellar and state of the art. If 3D has ever pleased you, I’m sure this will.
