Don’t hold your breath for any Episode VII news out of D23

Okay then. But we’ve all learned over the past few months to manage our expectations, right? Right.

In any case, I’m keeping my eye on folks at D23 and learning far, far more than I really want or need to know about other Disney stuff. Fear not, if there is Star Wars news, we’ll post it. If not, we’ll deal. We always do.

Disney teases Star Wars attraction(s) at D23

Well, what do we have here? It’s a series of ‘Orange Harvest’ (nuk nuk) crates labeled as containing (or previously containing) various items from the Star Wars galaxy. And… There are blueprints. Will we be getting some kind of theme park announcement after all, or is this it? Patience!

And bugs. Prefer not to think about any of that? Rich Handley and Abel G. Peña are exploring the Empire’s alien henchmen.

The blogside At Tosche Station, Nanci addresses the issues with the EU’s Jedi in recent years, but also takes the time to thank Del Rey for having so many women in the recent and upcoming lineup. And MTV has been doing a series on things that the new movies ‘need,’ most of which have been borderline ridiculous, but at least Jaina Solo and Lumiya made it.

Trailer for Dark Horse’s The Star Wars revealed

Dark Horse Comics has unveiled the final version of the trailer for their upcoming 8-issue series, The Star Wars, which brings George Lucas’ original draft screenplay to life. Or watch it in HD on the Dark Horse Comics facebook page. J. W. Rinzler’s series starts September 4th!

Second episode of LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles announced!

The name and air date of Episode II of The Yoda Chronicles, the trilogy of LEGO Star Wars specials focusing on the comic adventures of Yoda and a special dark-side clone, has been released: ‘Menace of the Sith’ coming out on Wednesday, September 4 at 8:00 pm (ET/PT) on Cartoon Network.

From the official site synopsis of ‘Menace of the Sith’:

Darth Sidious shows off the new Sith clone, JEK 14, an extremely powerful weapon of the dark side. However, JEK has a mind of his own and wants to be his own master. It’s up to Yoda and the Jedi to stop the Sith — and to try and bring JEK 14 to the side of good.

Yoda-Chronicles-LogoThe first episode, ‘The Phantom Clone’, aired at the end of May, and we interviewed show writer Michael Price back then about the series. With Billy Dee Williams providing a special guest voice in the first episode, i wonder who might be doing a guest appearance this time around. If you missed the first episode, I’m sure that Cartoon Network will re-air it, as well as the other LEGO Star Wars specials, in the lead-up to ‘Menace of the Sith’.

Report: A new Star Wars 3D movie taking over Disneyland’s Captain EO theater?

Micechat is at it again, with some more inside (and unconfirmed) information on the details of the Anaheim Tomorrowland’s Star Wars makeover.

In addition to the PeopleMover makeover they mentioned last time, it’s twilight for the revival of Micheal Jackson’s Captain Eo as the theater is expected to be the home of “a new Star Wars 3D movie.” Brand-new, or the conversions of the old films? More turnover if they make a new short film – the original Eo was only 17 minutes long – but I wouldn’t be shocked if they show the actual films periodically as well. Work on existing buildings in the area would be done in time for Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary (July 17th, 2015) and could wrap up by “early spring” – in time for Celebration, perhaps?

They also mention that, unsurprisingly, Star Tours will get new destinations from the sequels.

The “biggest of the Star Wars offerings” won’t open until after the anniversary, and construction “would be in conjunction to a similar Star Wars expansion for Disney’s Hollywood Studios” in Orlando.

None of this will be announced this weekend at D23, they say – and we’ve been told not be expect anything more than very small ‘hints’ on upcoming Star Wars theme park attractions. But it seems that there’s plenty more in the works.

It’s official: Both Star Wars trilogies to be rereleased as Blu-Ray/DVD combo packs in October

UPDATE 8/7: StarWars.com has verified the new releases and the release date of October 8, adding that DVD-only versions will be available internationally. Our original post is below.

Yakface and SWAN have spotted Amazon listings for another rerelease of the two Star Wars trilogies (Prequel, Original) as Blu-ray/DVD combo packs. They have a list price of $59.99 and an October 8th release date – just a week before The Clone Wars S5 and complete series box sets. (via)

The first Blu-ray sets, in addition to a complete saga box set, came out in fall 2011. They did not include DVD versions. All three (Saga, PT, OT) appear to be still available, though Amazon is running deeper-than-usual discounts on the trilogy sets.

Han took two long strides to catch up with her, shouldered past Jerell, and said, “I know what you’re doing.”

“I know what I’m doing, too,” Leia said, and congratulated herself on her even tone. She stopped at the first pod hatch and opened the control pad to initiate the automatic systems check. The pods were meant for the larger crew complement of the Gamble’s pre-conversion state; each one had room for five large passengers.

“Yeah, you’ll either talk them out of this, or die trying.” Han leaned against the bulkhead beside her, his voice low and grim. “Or make sure they die trying.”

Leia’s hand froze on the control pad. It was odd that, in this moment, it was Han of all people who seemed to understand what this meant to her.

Razor’s Edge is due out in hardcover on September 24.
