Sideshow Collectibles announced the addition of 12-inch figures from Lord of the Rings.
For those still in the Star Wars arena, TheForce.Net reports that Star Wars Galaxies will be adding new features. And LucasArts apparently has a lot up its sleeve, if the rumors are to be believed.

Is Serenity over?
Entertainment Weekly seems to think so, but Joss Whedon says they have context issues. Meanwhile, in an interview with Coming Soon, he says “It was hard to make and I’m very tired. I need some sleep, and then we’ll see if people are interested in more, than I have more say.”
So there you go. A nice solid maybe. Someone go tell the Browncoats they can inhale again.
Updating the Encyclopedia
Word comes from the starwars.com boards that there’s a new Star Wars Encyclopedia in the works. The last one came out in 1998 – before even TPM! Sue Rostoni says:
It’s true, there is a new Encyclopedia in the works. A volume that will update ongoing entries. Stuff that hasn’t changed (i.e., “hydrospanner”) won’t be duplicated in this second volume. A pub date hasn’t been set in duracrete yet, but we’re looking at Fall 2008 as a possible release time. The format will be the same as the first volume, to keep it as a “set.” That’s about all that’s been discussed at this point.
Also, the Coruscant Nights trilogy is being pushed back to 2008. Better than a year between each volume for a paperback trilogy, I guess.

This weekend’s Saturday Night Live was mostly forgettable – even with Jack Black hosting – but the best bit by far featured Andy Samburg and Chris Parnell rapping about Narnia, cupcakes, and Mapquest.
Film News: Not this crude matter
Guide to King Kong for those with small bladders. Speaking of the big guy, he’s not doing as well as expected, taking in only $66.2 million since Wednesday. I’d say that’s pretty good for a three-hour giant ape movie where everyone already knows the ending.
You couldn’t pay me to see Scary Movie 4, but the posters, which parody War of the Worlds, Saw and The Grudge, are certainly worth a giggle. (Via The Movie Blog.)
