Wired’s Lore Sjöberg reveals to us the Star Wars DVDs of tomorrow!
Flashback!
Rolling Stone talks to George Lucas, circa 1977. Also on tap is last year’s cover story, The Cult of Darth Vader.
Another unauthorized Star Wars tee
Why isn’t Lucasfilm snapping these freelancers up? After the whole Lori Jareo brouhaha, I’ve realized that maybe I shouldn’t be quite so nonchalant about this kind of thing, but… These shirts are awesome, far better than anything I’ve actually seen come out officially. (Yes, they’re trying, but I’m not really feeling the graphics at all.) The Urban Outfitter tees are close, but it seems like they’re trying too hard. You don’t need miles of text, or even a brief snappy caption. Just… simplicity.
It’s not like there’s not precedent – how many fan artists has LFL picked up over the years? Honestly, I don’t know. I’m sure there are contracts and exclusivity deals along the line somewhere. I just hate seeing awesome SW tees hovering in limbo.

Dark Horse Update: Legacy #3
Galactic Hunter has our first look at Legacy #3, most noteably the cover. Fan speculation (and a few hints from Randy Stradley) has pegged the cover subjects as Imperial royalty. Get your fanspec at TFN now, before it all turns sour.
Also in August, a new collection of Dark Empire II that includes the anticlimatic finale of the series, Empire’s End, and a second X-Wing Omnibus.

David Louis Edelman on The Day The Empire Strikes Back Changed Everything.
The Infinite Force has some thoughts on the release of the unaltered original trilogy. So does Jkthunder. And Dan Wallace.
Darth Rex0 considers the Dark Side
Lord_Noctifer ponders The Tragical History and Romantic Redemption of Anakin Skywalker.
Averii compiles a list of Moments when I love the EU: Old Republic and Prequel edition. In a similiar vein, how about a collection of the slash-leaning bits from Matthew Stover’s Revenge of the Sith novelization?
Meanwhile, on the VIP end of things…
Don Bies on how R2-D2: Beneath the Dome came to be.
Pete Vilmur lets us know that if you’re in prison, you can’t get a Fan Club kit. That kind of sucks. But considering I finally got my Insider today, there’s always a chance that by the time the kit comes around, the next guy will have served his sentence.
Dude, that was like a Jedi moment.
Sentient meat!
A short-film adaption of Terry Bisson’s short story “They’re Made Out of Meat” won grand prize at the Science Fiction Museum’s First Annual Short Film Festival. Watch the film, or read the original story. (via Boing Boing)
Checking in with the Fan Club race
Things were getting a little nasty for a while there, but hopefully the race to be Star Wars Fan Club President is back on track now.
According to the leaderboard, Tom ‘Uscwannabe’ Costabile is still in the lead with 162 recruited, and Dustin Roberts has 135. I don’t see anyone coming up from behind with those numbers – the third-placer, mkDCSWCC, still only has nine recruitments.
It’s possible that Dustin could still take it, with ten days left. His numbers aren’t too puzzling – he’s been pimping on two of the biggest fansites for weeks now. But Uscwannabe’s lead is still a bit of a mystery. Who is this guy, and where is he getting all those votes? I have no idea, and neither I nor Club Jade as a whole are endorsing any candidates.
However, this is good news for folks that want to have a say but have their accounts set to auto-renew: If your Hyperspace account has auto-renewed during the race, you can still have a vote.
But does he shot first?
Hasbro is making an action figure of George Lucas in Stormtrooper disguise. Hopefully the news of the rereleased OOT will keep fanboys from using it as a voodoo doll.
