Debuting at SDCC was the first trailer for Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender followup, Legend of Korra. Last Airbender Fans has a wrapup of the panel. It looks pretty damn cool, no?
And, bonus hilarity: The teaser hasn’t even been out a week and there’s not only tons of fan art around, but I’ve heard there are actual ship wars. Oh, fandom.
The only negative? Still no premiere date other than sometime next year…
In order to get over our depression celebrate the awesomeness that was Stargate (well, most of the time), GateWorld is starting up the Stargate Rewatch project in which the community works its way through every single Stargate episode as a group.
As a sort of practice run, they are doing a community viewing of the Stargate movie that started it all, this week.
So dry off your tear-soaked DVDs and start reliving the fun and agony that was Stargate with your fellow fans.
We saw new jewelry the other day, but now pictures of some of Her Universe’s new designs have been released. The first two SyFy shirts feature a red Cylon spine and Sharktopus (for guys, too!) plus a brand-new StarWars burnout logo tee.
Not included in the press release, but showing up on the website’s SDCC promo, is a ‘So Say We All’ hoodie.

The Emmy nominations came out this morning, and HBO’s fantasy series is among most nominated. Game of Thrones received 13 nods, most notably Best Drama and a Supporting Actor nomination for Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion.
For Best Drama, the show is up against Boardwalk Empire, Friday Night Lights, Dexter, The Good Wife and last year’s winner Mad Men. Dinklage’s competition includes John Slattery of Mad Men and Alan Cumming in The Good Wife.
Thrones other nods include writing (for ‘Baelor,’) direction, casting, costumes, hairstyling, visual effects and Main Title Design.
Meanwhile, A Dance With Dragons is actually selling better in print than in eBook.
Ashley Eckstein took to her blog today to give us a first look at the latest additions to the Her Universe jewelry line – and their first Battlestar Galactica product.
The Star Wars charm bracelet comes with a Her Universe logo charm, and will launch co-currently with Imperial logo charm and Rebel Alliance charms, with a Jedi symbol coming in the fall. (And, presumably, more to come next year if the sales are good?) A Naboo charm will be made in limited quality and only available at San Diego Comic Con, Dragon*Con and New York Comic Con.
Her Universe’s first Syfy product – the first to be revealed, anyway – is an adorable toaster necklace. Like the Naboo charm, it will be exclusive to SDCC, D*C, and NYCC.
I like the idea of the charms – even if you’re not into the bracelet, the individual charms can still be used on a necklace alone for a more restrained look. And the toaster necklace is hilarious!

As reported by GateWorld, Stargate Universe producer Joseph Mallozzi (who is doing a fun review of his favorite Stargate experiences) has a few quibbles with SyFy’s open letter to Stargate fans.
Mostly, it gets down to wanting SyFy to admit the error in judgment in their decision to move SGU to Tuesday’s based on the success of a less competitive summer schedule. Plus, there’s the ongoing discussion about how DVR ratings should affect things that everyone in the industry is trying to figure out; especially around genre shows.
Bottom line, there were business reasons for the show to end. And it’s still sad.

Community finale throws in some Star Wars. The sitcom’s second-season finale last night had a fair share of Star Wars references. ‘For a Few Paintballs More’ is now online, but you’ll want to watch part 1 – the full-on Western pastiche ‘Fistful of Paintballs’. (And if you haven’t seen their first paintball episode, last year’s ‘Modern Warfare’ yet… You should.)
NBC declines David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman. The network didn’t pick up the pilot, which starred Friday Night Lights’ Adrianne Palicki in the title role. Image leaks (both intentional and unintentional) failed to excite the cranky denizens of the internet, but more importantly, the pilot earned mixed reviews from test audiences.
Don’t try this at home. ‘Batman’ was arrested earlier this week in in Petoskey, Michigan.
Naturally. There’s been at least one official Star Wars cookbook, so of course Star Trek has one, too.
In a big, long letter of “nuh-uh, it was your fault,” SyFy’s Craig Engler explains to GateWorld how the ratings went for Stargate Universe.
Apparently, not so well.
Yeah. But none of this explains why there’s wrestling on a science fiction channel…
The last episode of Stargate Universe is airing tonight. It will be the first time in 14 years that there hasn’t been a Stargate series in production.
There are many Tweets from the cast and crew about their sadness over the demise of the show. But it looks like we’ll have a fitting ending. In spite of the news of cancellation not coming until after they finished filming, producer Brad Wright feels we’ll find it a good sendoff.
