Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
All is quiet on the book front until October, but there’s quite a comic pile coming on Wednesday. Okay, most of that heap is the giant 800-page Luke Skywalker: Last Hope for the Galaxy collection, but there’s also The Clone Wars: Shipyards of Doom. For regular comics, Vector begins its final lap through the comic GFFA in Legacy #28.

More new contract fallout: Alex Irvine details the timing of his ‘ancient Jedi’ novel on his blog:
…Yours truly is going to be writing a novel set just before the Knights of the Old Republic storyline. Since I am one of those guys who saw the movie (you know, The Movie; you know the one I mean) a dozen times the summer it came out, this is kind of a dream come true. Viva la Geek! Plus, there are some interesting open spaces in the continuity from that period, which give me a lot of room to work.
Isn’t that what the comics are doing? Oh well: I won’t even pretend to be an expert on that time period. (Some have speculated that this could be related to the still-rumored KOTOR MMO, but aren’t direct game tie-ins handled by separate contracts?)
Eight malls around the U.S. will be blessed with events promoting The Clone Wars TV show, starting later this month. Clearly, Ashoka will be forced to live on Orange Julius and Wetzel’s Pretzels for the duration.
ENI has some new screencaps from the tv series (presumably from the first two episodes, since we know the press kits are out and about;) Entertainment Weekly’s Jeff Jenson defends The Clone Wars. (Are there any prequel fans dead from shock yet?)
Cartoon Network has expanded their Clone Wars mini-site. It’s still sparsely populated, but there are character bios (including a new one for Grievous that’s been mildly controversial) and a new commercial/bumper spot. And most important of all, the button to turn off the music actually works!
Also, TFN has some good news for fans in Canada: The series will premiere on the Space Channel on October 10th, at 4pm.
Just one on Wednesday: The Clone Wars #1, first of a new series that ties-in to the TV series.
Looking into the future, we do have some new previews: Legacy #28/Vector part 9 and Knights of the Old Republic #34.
StarWars.com confirms the titles of the second and third Clone Wars books as Wild Space and No Prisoners. They also bring us the news that Karen Traviss won’t be handling the fifth book due to deadline issues; Karen Miller will finish up the series instead.
