Time to prepare your husband, Kelly. KITT is now on the auction block.
Of course, if KITT doesn’t interest you, maybe the Ten Commandments tablets that Charlton Heston carried?

Given all the excitement over happenings at Comic-Con, it’s no wonder that we missed the new Dreamwatch issue #119 which features “The Ten Women who Shoock Sci Fi.”
Leia made it in at number 9. Just above Lt. Uhura.
Feed your con envy! The Star Wars Official Site is going to be putting up a webcam to spy on all the fun at Comic-Con.
Hyperspace Members will also be able to see video clips and regularly-updated pictures from the con.
That will be really lovely. I might only cry a little bit while toiling away at my desk in boring ol’ mundanity.

It appears that a birthday card sent to Harry Potter caused a bit of a stir in Missouri.
Since Harry lives in England and his birthday is July 31st, I guess it was appropriate to send it this early.
But the kid who sent it was 16. Out of touch much?
Wil Wheaton played Wesley Crusher, intergalactic intern, on Star Trek: The Next Generation. He was hated, he was loved. He went to bootytown. And then Wil grew up, and moved on, and actually has a sense of humor about the whole thing.
He has a weblog. This is strictly old news to most of the internet — he swept the Bloggies in 2002 with a total of 6 awards, including Best Weblog.
What’s new? He has a book: Just a Geek.
And I think it’s okay to appreciate Wesley. Even if it’s only a little.
The National Endowment for the Arts released a survey today finding that literary reading has declined heavily in the US since 1992 – by 10% generally.
The news is disheartening, but I have to wonder how much of the slack – particularly among the age group of 18 to 24 – is taken up by the internet. More and more weblogs and journals pop up every day – certainly these people aren’t writing pages and pages of analysis over Harry Potter out of a sense of duty.
I wonder if the NEA took any figures on that?
VH1 is looking for people with large collections of pop-culture stuff. I think we may know a few individuals who fit the bill.
Last year, popular journaler Pamie (also an author and TWOP Recapper) learned that the Oakland Public Library, short on budget, put up an Amazion Wish List so that friends and patrons could purchase new books for them. She wrote an entry about it, and the news spread – and more than 600 books found their way to Oakland.
This year, Pamie is sponsoring the San Diego County Public Library – they’ve already past the hundred mark in a matter of days. Spread the word!
Now this… this is ‘focused’ – a blog written in Klingon. As far as I can tell, the post contents look pretty standard – Harry Potter, vanity goggling… Just in Klingon. Fascinating. [via Biz Stone]
