So Hotel Chevalier, the Wes Anderson short that features a naked Natalie Portman, went up on iTunes yesterday. Defamer took the opportunity to take it out on ‘long-frustrated Star Wars fans,’ and also link screenshots. I shrug. Enjoy yourselves, fanboys.
And today’s Trek rumors are….
Far be it for me to deny that I’m not just a wee bit biased for this one, but it appears that Stargate Atlantis’ Paul McGillion has auditioned for the role of Scotty in the next Star Trek film. He even gets some endorsement from James Doohan’s son over the recently-rumored James McAvoy.
And apparently Mike Vogel is getting the latest industry gossip as the front runner for Kirk.
Don’t you just love gossip?

How not to further your career in Hollywood
Tyler Nelson, the extra who leaked (possible) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull plot points is in deep poodoo with the film’s Powers That Be – Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, Page Six reports. In deference to the (possible) spoilers at the link:
Spielberg, furious Nelson blabbed, has reportedly snipped his scene.
Spielberg’s spokesman, Marvin Levy, wouldn’t say whether any of Nelson’s spoilers are accurate, but noted: “Who knows whether that particular person will ever work in this town again?”
Reached by Page Six yesterday, Nelson told us, “No comment. I’m not supposed to talk about it.” But his rep at the Thomas Talent Agency said, “He’s in trouble. He’s got to know that he can’t do that.”
Meanwhile, Slate offers an image macro.
More on the Young Indy DVDs
TVShowsonDVD.com recently announced the release date for Volume 2 of The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones: December 18, 2007. They also put together a series of three articles, one on each volume of the set.
- Part One discusses the contents of Volume 1, which has been mostly covered – 12 discs, seven episodes, lots of documentaries and other extras.
- Part Two shows some early cover art for Volume 2, and the 8 episodes (and 26 documentaries) being covered.
- Part Three discusses Volume 3’s contents: 7 episodes (and 31 documentaries,) and gives a sneak peak at the interactive timeline feature that will be in each DVD set.
Movie News: JLA, Potter, X-Files
Justice League of America script might have leaked. Emphasis on the might, but there are possible spoilers. In slightly more plausible news (it’s from Variety!) Jessica Biel may step into Wonder Woman’s boots. Well, we know she’s kicked ass before, but is she superhero material? I don’t foresee any complaints from the Karrdes.
Meanwhile, in another franchise…
- Daniel Radcliffe looking forward to filming Inferi scene for Half-Blood Prince.
- Transformers 2 in Summer 2009.
- David Duchovny claims second X-Files might begin shotting in December.
- Rumor mill: Rachel Weisz and Chloe Sevigny fighting for role in… Terminator 4? Yeah, right.
- Technician dies on the set of The Dark Knight.
Zombies Meet HGTV
Giant Magazine interviewed David Hewlett for the release of A Dog’s Breakfast, which come out this week on DVD in the US and Canada.
In the interview, David reveals that his next film is called Design of the Dead. A home renovation team not only revives a house, but the zombies inside it, as well.
That will give a new spin to the home improvement show!
Snippets of Indy IV stuff (and some Young Indy stuff too)…
Is it polite to serve Crystal Light out of a Crystal Skull? Does the star of “When Harry Met Sally” have a Crystal brain inside his crystal skull? Can Jawajames make any lamer puns about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?
Several bits of news from around the Indyverse may answer these questions.. or more importantly, provide real information:
- George Lucas talks with TV Guide about Sean Connery’s non-appearance in Indy IV, and how that creates a better character (read here on tvguide.com)
- An extra gets interviewed by the Edmond Sun (of Edmond, OK) and spills some plot details. (spoiler-free version on Cinematical)
- This spilling of details has led to some speculation about Cate Blanchett’s character. Cate herself might have leaked some information to MTV. (read the MTV movie blog)
and for you toy collectors out there:
- A first peek at the Indy IV toy packaging. Yup, just the packaging. Enjoy the pictures at cooltoyreview.com!
and some updates on the Adventures of Young Indiana Jones DVDs…

Star Wars or Raiders? (Or Psycho?)
The American Film Institute is having a poll to decide which of their 100 most thrilling movies will be screened for free at Hollywood’s Arclight on Halloween. Both A New Hope and Raiders of the Lost Ark are on the list.
Impending strike starting to wreak havoc?
The release date for Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has been pushed back six months over what is speculated to be fear about next summer’s impending actor’s strike.
Other productions which could be impacted include Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and the next James Bond movie.
The actor’s strike looks set to take place in June next year and will in fact manifest itself as a combined strike by the Screen Actors Guild, the Directors Guild of America and the Writers Guild of America (West) against the Producers Guild of America. The predicted strike has already sent Hollywood into a frenzy of planning, with many studios reportedly accelerating production of films to avoid gaps in their release schedules.
The strike is over royalties from sales of movies over the internet and on DVD, which are not covered in the current deal between the various guilds.
Grrrr. Argh.
