Star Wars Storyboards: The Original Trilogy, edited by J.W. Rinzler, will be in bookstores on May 13 (next Tuesday.) If you can’t wait, the prequel trilogy one was released last year.
Wookieepedia makes a choice on canon
Wookieepedia has posted their new canon policy. Unsurprisingly, they seem to be keeping the (pre-Legends) status quo, using a modified version of the old canon hierarchy. The coming years are certainly going to be ‘fun’ for them.
(No, I don’t think the breast article is going anywhere.)
May the 4th: A New Dawn except
Del Rey celebrates the 4th with a mini-excerpt from John Jackson Miller’s A New Dawn. The Rebels prequel novel will be out September 2.
The argument against ‘canon.’
The argument against ‘canon.’ On The Mary Sue, April Daniels argues that the concept actually does fandom, properties and stories more harm than good.
New Star Wars tops, 40% off sale at Her Universe
Her Universe has added new tops, a 77 Logo tee and a Vintage Poster Racerback tank (both $28,) plus there’s a mystery tee ($10.)
Many of the older items are on sale – most of the t-shirts will only run you only $15, and the Mara and Jaina shirts are both only $16.80.
This is a last chance sale for some of the shirts – and I have to wonder if that means our last chance for the EU ones – and the sale will last through May 5.
May the 4th: Star Wars eBook deals
Heir to the Empire and Darth Bane: Path of Destruction eBooks on sale for $1.99. A May the 4th special!
Del Rey: Movie novelizations part of the core canon (mostly)
Today on Twitter, Del Rey says the movie novelizations are part of the core canon. So thus I guess Owen Lars is Obi-Wan’s brother, Luke had a dog as a kid, and ducks exist in the GFFA. (I am partial to the ducks, because ducks.) Some doubters are waiting on word from the story group, so we’ll see. In the meantime, what other contradictions do you remember?
UPDATE: “To clarify, movie novelizations are canon where they align with what is seen on screen in the 6 films and the Clone Wars animated movie.” Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
Looking back at Splinter of the Mind’s Eye
The Star Wars sequel that never was. Screencrush’s Mike Ryan takes a look at the 1978 novel Splinter of the Mind’s Eye, which could have been the second film. Also noteworthy: Splinter is a weird relic of a Star Wars book which hasn’t been out of print since the early 90’s. If that’s not proof there’s hope for the EU, what is?
