Out this week: Star Wars, Doctor Aphra

The rush is over – for now – and only a handful of brand new comics are out this Wednesday, September 13. Star Wars #36 and Doctor Aphra #12 are gracing shelves, although there are also second printings of Darth Vader #3 and #4.

It’s only a temporary relapse, though. Del Rey will next strain your wallet for their From a Certain Point of View anthology on October 3, and there’s plenty more coming in the run-up to The Last Jedi.

Del Rey offering From A Certain Point of View con edition at NYCC – with a twist

Fans at New York Comic Con (October 5-8) will be able to purchase a special edition of From a Certain Point of View, the publisher’s 40th Anniversary anthology. It’s their latest convention edition featuring exclusive cover art and printed end papers. (The contents are the same as the regular edition.)

Out this week: Phasma comic, Star Wars Adventures

With Force Friday out of the way, we’ve got a whole load of comics coming our way on Wednesday, September 6. The big game in town is Phasma #1, which begins the tale of how she got out of the trash compactor and survived The Force Awakens. Marvel also brings us Darth Vader #5 and Rogue One #6, the final issue of the movie adaptation.

The Last Jedi in print: Empire, Phasma interview, Visual Dictionary cover

Empire Magazine’s big The Last Jedi issue is nigh, and the subscriber and newstand covers have been revealed. The issue is out there, and if you feel like squinting, you can read the article scans right this second.

→ Read Phasma yet? You’ll want to check out James’ interview with author Delilah S. Dawson. If not, there’s a new excerpt.

→ The cover for Pablo Hidalgo’s The Last Jedi: The Visual Dictionary has been spotted on Random House. It doesn’t say “not final cover!”

The Forcecast returns with the crew from Podcast 66

TheForce.Net has enlisted Ryan and Daniel of Podcast 66 to revive the classic ForceCast, which was shut down back in March 2016 after they jettisoned their established crew for a new one that didn’t exactly take to their new role with good grace. Ryan and Daniel have a lot more experience behind them – Podcast 66 has been around for a few years now – so things seem off to a good start.

Their first episode features author Claudia Gray to talk about her new book Leia: Princess Of Alderaan, as well as Johnamarie Macias from The Wookiee Gunner and the Lego Star Wars podcast Star Scavengers.

Win Battlefront II: Inferno Squad

It’s Force Friday but our countdown giveaways are still going! Thanks to our friends at Del Rey, we’re giving away a hardcover copy of Christie Golden’s Battlefront II: Inferno Squad. Set right after Rogue One and A New Hope, the Empire wants justice for the Death Star, and they assemble Inferno Squad to get it for them. Learn more about the Empire’s best in my interview with Golden at the official site.
