The British sci-fi comedy series, Red Dwarf, is being brought back for a TV special, 21 years after its debut, according to this BBC report (careful: it contains spoilers). It’s coming Easter weekend to the UK.

Video game site Kotaku discusses the trailer for the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings video game, coming for Wii, Nintendo DS and Playstation (likely for PSP). While previous rumors had indicated that the Indiana Jones next-gen video game that had been in development for years had been canceled, perhaps some of the story elements from that game got pushed into this one. According to a GenCon press release, the bankruptcy court has agreed to let GenCon reorganize itself, and not be subject to a hostile takeover bid (by the GenCon Acquisition Group). The company plans to eventually pay off all its creditors and continue to operate.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog has won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Online Sensation, in the 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards, beating out other such online sensations as “Paris Hilton’s response to McCain ad”. In the other geeky categories, Heroes nabbed the spot for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show, Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman got favorite superhero, and Christian and Heath beat out Harrison and Shia for Favorite On Screen Match Up. The Dark Knight beat out Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Iron Man for both favorite movie and favorite action movie.
A revised offer to get GenCon through bankrupcy has been made by the GAG. No – not Jacen Solo’s door-kicking secret police in black (Galactic Alliance Guard), but the GenCon Acquisition Group. Majel Barret Roddenberry, Star Trek actor and wife of Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, passed away on Thursday of leukemia at the age of 76. Known for her roles as Nurse Christine Chapel in the Original Series, Lwaxana Troi in The Next Generation, and the voice of the ship’s computer (of nearly all Starfleet and Federation vessels) in all the series and films of the franchise, including the upcoming JJ Abrams reboot.
Jawa’s note: I met Majel Barrett at a Star Trek convention in 1993, and though I really didn’t know who she was or who Lwaxana Troi was (not much of a Trek fan back then), she was really sweet to me.

At the beginning of September, Star Trek: The Experience, at the Las Vegas Hilton, was shut down due to the hotel’s desire to re-use the space for more profit-generating attractions. The attraction, which included a restaurant recreation of Quark’s Bar, simulator rides, displays of original props and costumes, and gift shop, just wasn’t bringing in the latinum for the Hilton. But, according to reports on wired.com, Neonopolis in downtown Las Vegas is in negotiation to get Star Trek: The Experience and bring it to the next generation. No word yet on an expected opening date, but we’ll be waiting in the ready room!
