As we’ve learned in the past few years, every new Star Wars movie is the best one when one sees it on premiere night. But the praise for The Last Jedi is particularly enthusiastic and even occasionally thoughtful. Will it hold? Too soon to say, but for now, this is what we’re getting… All that and the beefcake 411, under the cut.
Luke was right: "This is not going to go the way you think." #TheLastJedi will shatter you – and then make you whole again. pic.twitter.com/PJyYpH5loP

Carrie Fisher has some unforgettable moments as Leia. @HamillHimself is crushing as a Luke who's more broken and lost than your action figures from the '70s. #TheLastJedi

I think #TheLastJedi may be the first Star Wars movie that's not just about growing up, but also about growing old. New characters mature, veterans learn about becoming more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

BEWARE of spoilers. #TheLastJedi sneaks up on you in ways you will not expect. I've never seen apparent plot holes wielded as surprise attacks.
— Anthony Breznican (@Breznican) December 10, 2017
Don't worry. Despite a few surface similarities, #TheLastJedi has a radically different structure from The Empire Strikes Back – and every other Star Wars movie.

You may not always feel how you want to feel, but the feelings will be genuine and deep, and I am grateful for them. Especially when it comes to @carrieffisher. #TheLastJedi pic.twitter.com/gw2ntT3ATp

There’s a scene in #StarWars #TheLastJedi that I keep playing over and over in my head, that is so stunning and unexpected that I don’t want to forget how I felt seeing it for the first time. This movie feels unlike any other Star Wars movie in all the ways I hoped. pic.twitter.com/zlDW4yOjp2

Not only are Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill at their very best as Leia and Luke in this movie, but Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver blow Rey and Kylo Ren out of the park. I didn’t expect where those characters went and it’s my favorite part of the movie. #TheLastJedi

I cannot understand how much I fell in love with @kellymarietran’s Rose from the start. She is a new heart for this series. As much as The Force Awakens was about looking back, #TheLastJedi is all about looking forward.

It’s long and a LOT to unpack, but @rianjohnson made something very, very special with #StarWars #TheLastJedi. Don’t let yourself be spoiled!!! It’s better not knowing. I can’t wait to hear what you all think. #PorgNation

#StarWarsTheLastJedi floored me. @rianjohnson and the team nail so much – thrills, laughs, heart and most of all, pushing the characters/overall franchise a major step forward. Some really rich material to explore in the future. Can't wait for more.

The Last Jedi is incredible. Character at the forefront, amazing action and so so so much emotional payoff decades in the making. I will be watching this one a lot. pic.twitter.com/KVOjLhwk27

The Last Jedi First Impressions: There is a lightsaber battle in this film that I can’t wait to see with a fan audience. Some really amazing action scenes.

#StarWarsTheLastJedi is great fun!! I’m not going to reveal anything except to say how great the cast is and how surprisingly funny it is. Luke Skywalker/Hamill & Leia/Fisher were awesome. Daisy rules.

Impressed with #StarWars: #TheLastJedi. It makes some big, impressive and surprising moves that I definitely didn't expect. Not all of the plot stuff is exactly perfect, but the character work is once again fantastic, and it's just amazing to see Luke Skywalker back in action.

#TheLastJedi is incredibly satisfying and hands down Mark Hamill's best performance as Luke Skywalker

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is everything. Intense, funny, emotional, exciting. It’s jam-packed with absolutely jaw dropping moments and I loved it so, so much. I’m still shaking. pic.twitter.com/fHddWjo201

THE LAST JEDI has more goosebump moments than any Star Wars movie I can remember. I was grinning for most of the 2 and a half hours. A worthy and great Star Wars film. The franchise is in great hands. Kudos to @rianjohnson

THE LAST JEDI: A little too long & dragged in the middle, but great fun overall! As good as The Force Awakens; Rogue One is better! More humor than expected, great #StarWars moments, #MarkHamill is awesome! A worthy Episode VIII pic.twitter.com/HHihSa788D

For those asking, I was one of those jerks who panned #TheForceAwakens right out of the gate. #TheLastJedi is proof that I was right to do so. *This* is podracing…
— Scott Mendelson (@ScottMendelson) December 10, 2017
There has never been a movie in the Saga like that. Holy wow. @rianjohnson went big. #TheLastJedi
— The ForceCast (@ForcecastNet) December 10, 2017
Every single shot serves a purpose and #thelastjedi is easily the funniest #starwars film. And that is a fantastic thing.
— James Viscardi (@JimViscardi) December 10, 2017
Guys. @rianjohnson has ALREADY made his #StarWars trilogy. He just put it all in the same movie, that’s all. #TheLastJedi
— Chris Taylor (@FutureBoy) December 10, 2017
Just gonna be honest: #TheLastJedi f**ked up a lot of people tonight.
— Jessie May (@PhilanTopic) December 10, 2017
I'll have a #TheLastJedi reaction for you in about 6 or 7 years after I can finally process and unpack everything I just saw
— Ash Crossan (@AshCrossan) December 10, 2017
#TheLastJedi will make you feel like you did the first time you saw #StarWars. Visionary, epic filmmaking by @rianjohnson
— Gina Prince-Bythewood (@GPBmadeit) December 10, 2017
And finally, the most important information:
Adam Driver in THE LAST JEDI obligingly serves the most STAR WARS beefcake since Luke went sleeveless on Dagobah
