Yoda’s fadeaway makes MTV’s list of the ten most shocking movie deaths of all time. Also making an appearance, Samuel L. Jackson’s deeply ironic exit from Deep Blue Sea, aka the only reason anyone would want to actually watch Deep Blue Sea. (via TOSblog)
Jedi Masters: Lying liars who lie
I know, you’re shocked, right? Abel G. Peña looks at the misleading statements of Obi-Wan and Yoda in the Original Trilogy.
Pixels, CGI, not this crude matter
Yoda is #5 on Entertainment Weekly’s ten favorite CG characters. Aside from the fact that most of us first fell for Yoda in puppet form, I have a hard time taking seriously any list that includes Casper the Friendly Ghost. Fun fact: ILM is responsible for 60% of the list. (Including Casper. Sorry dudes.)
Yoda wants to heckle you
I love plush, super deformed toys as much as any other girl, but there’s something off with Yoda’s head… Besides the obvious Photoshopping, that is. The Chewbacca’s cute, though.
The internet is full of fanboys
At least according to Lycos: “Natalie Portman” is their #1 most searched-for Star Wars term, followed up by Oola, Endor, Harrison Ford, and Yoda. Interesting, but I wonder what Google or Yahoo’s search stats would be…
Yoda stamp takes the lead
TFN kindly reposts the latest press release regarding USPSjedimaster.com, which announces that the Yoda stamp has taken a early lead, with Vader slowly gaining. And a new feature has been to to the site – you can now get a daily reminder email directly from them. You can also now pre-order the stamp sheet.
Fan Art: Palpatine vs. Yoda
The Fate of a Galaxy by forgottenpurpose. I love the color highlighting on this one.
Force FX for the shorties
Master Replicas has added Yoda’s lightsaber to their Force FX line. Collectors Society members can preorder it today; everyone else can on Thursday. It’s expected to ship in the spring, so we’ll probably get to see them in person at C4.
Star Wars in the News
Someone has a sense of humor… Of all the animals to name after Yoda, a giraffe? He is, however, an “unusually gentle and calm giraffe,” according to the director of his former zoo.
James Earl Jones is fifth on the list of Forbes‘ most trusted celebrities.
Is the Force becoming reality? Or do science writers just really, really want you to read their story?
My Little Ponies go geek
I wasn’t into Star Wars as a kid – I was all about My Little Pony and Barbie and all that critical mass girlie stuff. So a year or so ago, when I found a picture of Lord Pony, I was amazed and extremely covetous. (Alas, it is not to be.) Today, I found an amazing Alien pony, complete with step-by-step pictorial. Such an oddly compelling combination…
Other custom ponies of interest: Yoda, Spock, gargoyle, Borg, punk, and Masque of the Red Death (one of a series!)
Forget Transformers, LFL – here’s a crossover toy I would buy!
