Word on the street is that the powers that be are courting Sam Raimi (Spiderman, Evil Dead) to step into Peter Jackson’s shoes. Not a bad idea, but would he even be willing?
Unconfirmed, yet exciting: All Star Wars episode of Robot Chicken in production?
Lucasfilm bankrolling Robot Chicken special? Source is Dino Stamatopoulos, whose Moral Orel shares a production facilty (but, I assume, not a nondisclosure agreement) with the Chicken folks.
Captain Obvious/Rumor Mill OTP!
Giant box set of the Saga in 2007, maybe. Those Digital Bits – they’re totally psychic when it comes to putting two and two together. Totally. 2007 does seem pretty soon, though, what with the new DVDs just days away – I’d guess 2008, which would continue the pattern of new DVDs every two years, or whenever one of those TV shows finally materializes. But I don’t think anyone doubts we’ll see a mega-box set before the decade is out.
For good measure, here’s a digital Yoda in Episode I from the ROTS bonus DVD.
A Jedi craves not these things
Speaking of rumors… Kevin Smith addresses last year’s gossip of his involvement with the Star Wars TV show.
Was there ever any truth to the your involvement with a Star Wars TV show?
“No, no,” Smith says with a chuckle. “Which was so strange, because I was like, ‘Really? I wish somebody had told me.’ People kept saying, ‘Dude, you gonna be doing that?'”
Rumor-mongering: O RLY?
T’bone has heard a rumor that ILM may be outsourced to India. Grain of salt. Big heaping grains of salt.
ETA: Check the comments for some more looking into the issue.
ETA2: From the inside: Pablo calls bullshit.
Who doesn’t love an Indy 4 rumor?
Someone on the IMDB boards claims to know the plot and title for the fourth Indiana Jones movie. Probably total bunk, but it is in the ballpark of plausibility.
Tom Hanks to help revive Trek?
That’s the rumor, anyway: Paramount is considering a script by Erik Jendresen, who worked on the mini-series Band of Brothers. If there’s even a glimmer of truth to this, Hanks would be the biggest name to join the franchise since Patrick Stewart.
Natalie Portman to play Idaho Jones?
The rumor mill is buzzing that Natalie Portman wants to work with George Lucas again:
Portman, 23 , obviously doesn’t have to break into cold sweat to reflect on her time on the Star Wars films. There’s already talking about the actress working with George Lucas again on another multi-million dollar franchise entry, Indiana Jones. Even before filming had wrapped on The Phantom Menace, Portman let the director know that she’d love a part in the next Indiana Jones movie back, and the word is, he might have found a slot for her in the anticipated sequel. Smells like Indiana Jones has an offspring.
For Star Wars fans, that could be more than a little weird.
