Out this week: Fate of the Jedi: Ascension in paperback, new Dawn of the Jedi

It’s something old and something new for Expanded Universe fans this week. Coming to bookstores tomorrow in paperback is the penultimate chapter of the Fate of the Jedi series, Christie Golden’s Ascension.

Meanwhile, Wednesday brings a new storyline to Dawn of the Jedi with The Prisoner of Bogan #1.

That’s it for books for the rest of the year until Timothy Zahn’s Scoundrels drops on January 1 – though there is a short story coming December 10 .

Out this week: The Old Republic slogs on with Annihilation

It’s yet another Sith-heavy week for new releases. Out Tuesday is the latest Old Republic novel, Drew Karpyshyn’s Annihilation. And on Wednesday, Lost Tribe of the Sith: Spiral #4.

And after these, we’re down to just one more book release through the end of the year – Fate of the Jedi: Ascension in paperback on November 27th. Of course, there’s always Timothy Zahn’s Scoundrels on January 1st…

Out this week: Darth Bane goes three for all

We’ve had quite enough excitement, so only one new release this week: The three-in-one eBook bundle of Drew Karpyshyn’s Darth Bane novels went on sale yesterday. Path of Destruction, Rule of Two and Dynasty of Evil will run you $18.99 at your digital bookstore of choice.

Since we haven’t heard that there are any more Bane books on the horizon, this is presumably to support of Karpyshyn’s latest Old Republic novel, Annihilation, which will be out in hardcover (and eBook) next week, on the 13th.

Out this week: Darth Plagueis in paperback

In stores on Tuesday is the paperback edition of James Luceno’s Darth Plagueis. (Now in the hands of the Emperor himself!) If you’re curious, you can read my sort of/kind of/not really a review from back when it came out in hardcover, but here it is in short: If you’re interested in the prequel era, the Sith and various bits of continuity that revolve around The Phantom Menace, try it. If you’re like me and more focused on the post-ROTJ stuff… It’s probably not worth the bother. But to each their own.

Anyway, moving on, it’ll also be a bit Sithly if you read to your local comic shop on Wednesday for Darth Maul: Death Sentence #4.

And, looking at our upcoming releases for the rest of the year, Sith fans also have The Old Republic: Annihilation coming up on November 13.

Out this week: Agent of the Empire goes to Alderaan

As one comic leaves, another begins… Well, begins a new arc, anyway. In Agent of the Empire: Hard Targets #1, out Wednesday, Jahan Cross heads to Alderaan to party with the Organas.

If you’re a military sci-fi fan, you might want to go check out Five by Five, a set of novelettes that includes stories by Aaron Allston, Michael Stackpole, and Kevin J. Anderson.

As for Star Wars books, we have the paperback reprint of James Luceno’s Darth Plagueis due at the end of the month. Our next new book will be a hardcover, Drew Karpyshyn’s The Old Republic: Annihilation, on November 13.

Out this week: The Essential Reader’s Companion

Coming Tuesday – and probably already on the way if you preordered one – will be Pablo Hidalgo’s Essential Reader’s Companion, perhaps the most anticipated Star Wars reference book of the year – or at least since Celebration VI. Pablo did interviews last week with FangirlBlog and Roqoo Depot for the occasion, while io9 featured some of the book’s art.

And speaking of art, you’ll also want to keep your eyes open for Star Wars Art: Illustration. Unlike Visions it contains a good amount of art that we’ve already seen, but since when has that stopped anyone from buying an art book?

Meanwhile, coming to comic shops on Wednesday is the second Clone Wars omnibus, The Enemy on all Sides, which collects collects Republic #54–#66 and #68, Jedi: Yoda, and General Grievous #1–#4. You may also find a second printing of the Rise of the Sith omnibus, which collects comics that lead into The Phantom Menace.

Out this week: Sith, Sith, LEGOs, and more Sith

There’s quite a variety of things coming this week, at least if you take formats into account. (…Lots of Sith.) First up, today, is Drew Karpyshyn’s The Old Republic: Revan in paperback.

Then Wednesday brings Darth Maul: Death Sentence #3 to comic shops. That night, tune into Cartoon Network at 8:00 p.m. EDT for LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out.

And finally, The Clone Wars returns Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. with the Maul-centric ‘Revival‘.

If none of this catches your fancy (I hear that, sister) hold tight: Pablo Hidalgo’s The Essential Reader’s Companion is coming on October 2.
