Out this week: The Clone Wars S5 and complete series box set, Star Wars Art: Concept

The Clone Wars S5 box setThe Clone Wars fans are having a good couple days – we got some Rebels details Saturday, Friday Dave Filoni announced that The Clone Wars’ remaining episodes will be seen early next year, and tomorrow sees the release of season 5 and a complete series box set on Blu-ray and DVD.

If the cartoon isn’t your thing, Pacific Rim..! Wait, no, Star Wars Art: Concept is also dropping. There’s a deluxe version for the collectors.

Our next Star Wars release is something something bounty hunters from Daniel Wallace, Ryder Windham and Jason Fry on October 27th (a Sunday?) followed by a ‘reasonably priced’ version of Frames on the 29th.

(But seriously, Pacific Rim, guyspacific-rim500)

Out this week: New Blu-Ray/DVD box sets

OT Blu-Ray/DVD pack (2013)No books this week, but there is one big release on Tuesday: Blu-ray/DVD combo packs of the two trilogies. These are the same cuts of the film we saw last time, just with DVD versions and new cover art, so it’s not that big a deal, but if you’re a collector or just need copies for some reason, it’s your lucky day.

Those looking for something new can turn to the comic store on Wednesday, as Star Wars #10 and the digest Ewoks: Shadows of Endor, plus a second Wild Space omnibus hit the shelves.

Next week may be a tad more exciting, at least for fans of The Clone Wars, as the S5 and Complete Series box sets will be dropping. For everyone else, there’ll be Star Wars Art: Concept, which also comes in a pricey limited edition set. io9 has a look at a few of the pieces.

Out this week: In the Shadow of Yavin trade

Star Wars #1 (Dark Horse)If you’ve been waiting to try Brian Wood’s Star Wars series to make it to trade, Wednesday is your lucky day: Volume 1: In the Shadow of Yavin comes out, collecting the first 6 issues plus the Free Comic Book Day special.

Meanwhile, there’s also Dark Times: A Spark Remains #3 and the trade collection of the last Dark Times storyline, Fire Carrier.

In stores on Tuesday will be the perplexingly ‘educational’ National Geographic Angry Birds Star Wars.

Next week brings our final brand-new novel for the year, Martha Wells’ Razors Edge, first in the Empire and Rebellion series.

Out this week: Star Wars #9

Star Wars #9Head to the comic book store on Wednesday for Star Wars #9, in which Leia apparently visits the remains of Alderaan. September is all about Alderaan, I guess.

Or, if you want the original Legacy series collected in hardcover, Book 2 will be out as well. Not sure which issues are in this one, but with both it and Book 1 clocking in at over 400 pages each, it’s gotta be a good chunk of the series.

Our next novel release is Razor’s Edge by Martha Wells (reviewed!) on September 24, with J. W. Rinzler’s massive The Making of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi looming on October 1.

Out this week: Miller’s Kenobi and more

kenobi245You’ll finally be able to pick up John Jackson Miller’s Kenobi on Tuesday, but in the meantime, there are Miller interviews at Eleven-ThirtyEight and Fangirl. There’s an excerpt read by James Arnold Taylor and a look at the book’s geography as well… And my review will be up tomorrow.

Also out on Tuesday is Jeffrey Brown’s Jedi Academy. The author of Darth Vader and Son and Vader’s Little Princess now has a bigger book that is a Diary of a Wimpy Kid take on being in a Jedi middle school, under Yoda. Check out Bleeding Cool’s preview of the book, or watch the book’s trailer.

Meanwhile, in comics, Legacy #6 is out on Wednesday.

Our next novel, Martha Wells’ Empire and Rebellion: Razor’s Edge, will be out on September 24th, while the highly anticipated The Making of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi by J. W. Rinzler is out October 1.

Out this week: Legacy #5, new Insider

Legacy #5It’s a good week for comics: Legacy #5 ends the revived title’s first arc with, apparently, some sort of bang. And for those who prefer collections, there are trade paperback editions of Dawn of the Jedi: Prisoner of Bogan and Agent of the Empire: Hard Targets.

It’s also time for non-subscribers to start keeping an eye out for Star Wars Insider #143, guest-edited by Warwick Davis and featuring a short story by John Jackson Miller that ties into our next novel release, August’s Kenobi.

Out this week: Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin, new The Clone Wars digest, Lost Tribe collected

The Clone Wars: The Smuggler's CodeLots of stuff coming to the comic stores this week – well, three, which is ‘lots’ for our purposes. First off there’s Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin #3 and a new Clone Wars digest, The Smuggler’s Code, starring Obi-wan. And for the trade paperback aficionados, there’s the collected Lost Tribe of the Sith: Spiral.

And finally, book fans, next week brings Aaron Allston’s X-Wing: Mercy Kill in paperback to match up with the rest of the series.
