May the 4th: A New Dawn except
Del Rey celebrates the 4th with a mini-excerpt from John Jackson Miller’s A New Dawn. The Rebels prequel novel will be out September 2.
Video: Full trailer for Rebels
May the 4th begins, as promised, with the Rebels trailer. (There’s also a short version which I presume is the one playing on TV.) Thoughts? Theories?
If you’re having issues with Youtube, the trailer is live on Disney.com as well.
Teasing the Rebels trailer
Empire is teasing the May the 4th Rebels trailer. They say it’ll air on Disney XD at 11.40 a.m.
Rebels trailer will debut May the 4th. And the 3rd.
Rebels trailer will debut May the 4th. Since we got the big one today, it only figures that StarWars.com will debut a new trailer for the cartoon at midnight Sunday (Pacific.) But! If you turn your TV to theDisney Channel and watch The New Yoda Chronicles and various other Disney/ABC stations, you may see it earlier.
Confirmed: The Expanded Universe’s role in the future of Star Wars
Yeah, we’ve got us an alternative universe, StarWars.com has announced: “In order to give maximum creative freedom to the filmmakers and also preserve an element of surprise and discovery for the audience, Star Wars Episodes VII-IX will not tell the same story told in the post-Return of the Jedi Expanded Universe.” However, the EU as we know it is not going away – some of it is being re-released under the ‘Legends’ banner. And Star Wars going forward will be using many of it’s elements.
On that note, we have several adult Rebels, novels on the horizon, the first of which, A New Dawn, will be by John Jackson Miller. (On his own blog, Miller wrote about his trip to Lucasfilm to film the video.)
As an EU fan? This is more or less what I expected, and I welcome that there’s now a greater freedom for the films to explore the post-ROTJ era… And leave a lot of the EU’s less savory aspects behind.
Disney World’s full Star Wars Weekend guest lineup
Disney World’s full Star Wars Weekends lineup. We already knew about Mark Hamill, but the rest of the weekend names are out now. In addition to the various film and Clone Wars alums, they’ve added several Rebels cast members: Vanessa Marshall, Tiya Sircar, Taylor Gray and Steve Blum.
Video: Rebels debuts theme music, Hera clip at WonderCon; Composor Kevin Kiner returns
Composer Kevin Kiner (from The Clone Wars) returns for Rebels, and they debuted the show’s theme today at WonderCon. They also showed a clip of Hera and the Ghost in action, which you can see above.
And that’s it, really. I wasn’t really expecting anything major, but even a premiere date would have been nice. Oh well…
UPDATE: There’s a new interview with Kiner on Hero Complex, and a writeup from StarWars.com that also gives us a better look at all the concept art. And Kiner shares some new music in a second video: Is it the theme?

Has Jeremy Bulloch been asked to appear in… Something?
Has Jeremy Bulloch been asked to appear in… Something? Calling it now: He’s totally playing the Mayor of Sernpidal in his spin-off movie. But seriously, Bulloch is at the very least a cameo shoo-in for a (probable) Boba Fett film, or, if you want to go with something confirmed, Rebels. Marinate on it, Fettheads.
UPDATE: He was kidding. Shocking.
