Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
There’s only one thing out this week, as we wait and gear up for the Rogue One rush. Wednesday brings a hardcover reprint collection from Marvel, Heroes for A New Hope. It collects the Princess Leia, Lando and Chewbacca miniseries.
Our next two books are James Luceno’s Catalyst (November 15) and Carrie Fisher’s The Princess Diarist (November 22). Check out our book release schedule for what’s coming up in December and beyond.
In a slight departure from all The Force Awakens buzz, Tuesday bring the novel Battlefront: Twilight Company by Alexander Freed. It has pretty good buzz from what I can tell, so if this is something that appeals to you, might as well go for it.
(Subscribers can expect the latest issue of the Star Wars Insider any day now. It contains the short story ‘Inbrief’ by Janine K. Spendlove, featuring a character from the novel. Non-subscribers… Well, it’s not on the shipping list this week, but soon.)
Meanwhile, Wednesday’s new comic is Star Wars #11. If you’ve been waiting for trades, look for collection of both Princess Leia and Kanan: The Last Padawan.
Well, after a few weeks of nothing, we finally have an actual lineup for this week’s releases – at least if you’re collecting comics. Wednesday brings Princess Leia #5 (preview) and Darth Vader #7 (preview,) plus the third printing of Star Wars #3. Then Marvel’s third collection of Legends/Dark Horse stuff, or, the Star Wars Legends Epic Collection: The Old Republic Vol. 1. It reprints Knights of the Old Republic 1-18.
Also, if you’re really bored, the Tarkin paperback is out tomorrow.
If you’re new to buying comics, Eleven-ThirtyEight had a nice piece last week on the hows and whys of the industry. For the record, I always use Diamond for new release posts – the dates on Marvel’s site have proved no less reliable than Dark Horse’s were!

Lots to pick up at the comic shop on Wednesday. There’s Star Wars #6, Darth Vader #6 (preview,) Princess Leia #4 and in trade, The Marvel Years Vol. 2.
Star Wars comes in strong with April comic sales. All four franchise books were in the top 10, with Star Wars #4 the month’s comic shop bestseller.
It’s the last week of April, and that means Paul Kemp’s Lords of the Sith is out on Tuesday. That’s the same day you’ll be able to pick up Ultimate Star Wars from DK, the first fully canon reference book.
On Wednesday, comic fans will find Princess Leia #3 waiting for them, as well as a second printing of Darth Vader #3.
Our next novel will be Christie Golden’s Dark Disciple, out on July 7. Also dropping that day is William Shakespeare’s The Clone Army Attacketh.
Princess Leia #1 was March’s best-selling comic. Not best-selling Star Wars comic, not best-selling Marvel comic, best-selling comic of the month. Star Wars #3 and Princess Leia #2 also made the top 5, with Darth Vader #3 in the top 10.
Marvel keeps the new stuff coming as Wednesday brings us Princess Leia #2, only two weeks after #1. CBR has a preview of the new issue.
Tuesday brings us our first novel of the year, Kevin Hearne’s Heir to the Jedi. Fair warning: I was not impressed.
Wednesday sees us with yet another comic launch: Princess Leia #1. Marvel has posted a sketchbook from artist Terry Dodson.
Coming up, we have the A New Dawn paperback on March 31, and
William Shakespeare’s The Phantom of Menace (yes, it got a title change) on April 7.
Marvel’s Star Wars solicitations for May. Princess Leia #4, Darth Vader #5, Star Wars #5 and Kanan: The Last Padawan #2 are on the docket.
