New Star Wars tops, 40% off sale at Her Universe

Her Universe (New for May the 4th 2014)Her Universe has added new tops, a 77 Logo tee and a Vintage Poster Racerback tank (both $28,) plus there’s a mystery tee ($10.)

Many of the older items are on sale – most of the t-shirts will only run you only $15, and the Mara and Jaina shirts are both only $16.80.

This is a last chance sale for some of the shirts – and I have to wonder if that means our last chance for the EU ones – and the sale will last through May 5.

May the 4th at the Disney Store

Okay, this is cute. I'm not made of stone.
Okay, this is cute. I’m not made of stone.
Yakface has details on May the 4th at the Disney Store, which is apparently why Disney brought bloggers out this week… They did get a nifty tour, though.

I’m not really seeing anything exciting in the new products, but that’s a) not my beat and b) there’s still a day left to the event. So hopefully there’s something more exciting waiting in the wings. (Or not, as the case may be. Oh well.)

Hasbro will make figures for Rebels’ Hera and Sabine, but then what?

Rebels: Sabine

We saw Sabine’s official reveal this morning, and although we’re still waiting for Hera’s, Hasbro confirmed with Newsarama’s Lucas Siegel that action figures of both Rebels ladies are coming, and will be unveiled at SDCC.

There’s been some blowback to the concerns over the lack of women showed in the first wave of Hasbro Rebels toys. But together with the ‘for boys’ nature of Disney XD and the apparent ‘ladies last’ spacing of the character reveals, it’s really felt like the female characters – and thus female fans – are there as an afterthought. (Is it really still not a given that women and girls like action?)

Yes, we know ‘this is how it is.’ Yes, we know that ‘it’s all here to sell toys.’ Yes, we know that’s ‘what advertisers want.’ And that’s exactly why we’re fighting so hard over this. This is our first major rollout since Disney took the wheel, and this is an uphill battle.

Rebels hints in LEGO 2014 lineup?

The LEGO Summer 2014 catalog has slipped out, and its Star Wars lineup offers a few hints for Rebels – and possibly more of The Yoda Chronicles? When the list of toy sets first started slipping out, Peter at Lightsaber Rattling explained what some of the set names might mean, while more recently Tomás at Groove Bricks got the list set descriptions, which puts most of the speculation to rest, and introduces some characters from Rebels.

The Ghost set, which is spotted in some online pictures of the catalog, is pretty clearly The Ghost, the new ship of Star Wars Rebels, revealed last year, and has a minifigure of a character named Zeb. The Phantom comes with a minifigure with a second character name: Ezra Bridger.

Join the Rebel resistance against the evil Empire in The Phantom attack shuttle, as seen in the exciting Star Wars: Rebels animated TV series! Place young Rebel hero Ezra Bridger in the detachable cockpit and store his cadet helmet and blaster in the carg
Fly The Phantom into battle against the evil Empire!

Jason Ward over at Making Star Wars pieces all the names (and ships) together.]

The other hard-to-decipher set name is what most sites are calling Jedi Hunter (or Jedi Hunter Frontier) while Groove Bricks also found a source calling it Jedi Scout Fighter. While Lightsaber Rattling originally speculated that it’s a Rebels-themed set, the minifigure list connects it to The Yoda Chronicles, with a new version of JEK-14. Unless JEK-14 (the Force-powered clone from The Yoda Chronicles) jumps from the LEGO Star Wars specials to Rebels, it seems that this set is a follow-up to 2013′s set based on The Yoda Chronicles. Does that mean that more adventures of JEK-14 are coming to the screen next year, since his fellow figures aren’t ones that I recognize from the three episodes of The Yoda Chronicles?

Also coming out this summer from LEGO: a new snowspeeder, AT-AT, Star Destroyer, B-Wing and Mos Eisley Cantina! Lots of love for original trilogy this summer.

So, we have a few more merchandise-related leaks for Rebels, and a sign that there might be more follow-up to The Yoda Chronicles?

Santa Maul has awoken to advise you on bloodshed, gift-buying and other forms of holiday violence

Santa Maul hopes your enemies were sluggish and your feasting was plentiful this Thanksgiving. Santa Maul himself is, of course, gearing up for his (contractually-obligated) favorite day of the year, Black Friday.

Santa Maul's Holiday Gift Guide“But Santa Maul,” you say. “The shopping has started earlier this year, on Thanksgiving itself!” To that, Santa Maul says poppycock. Thanksgiving is a day for feasting and destroying your enemies: Shopping is for every day after that, until the final facedowns of the season and the blood offerings at Sithmas itself. On this, Santa Maul remains firm.

That said, if you wish to begin your shopping now, well, upon your own neck be it. Consumerism waits for no Sith.

Star Wars is, as always, at the forefront of the trend, with StarWars.com posting their own roundup of deals yesterday. Dunc already revealed the new offerings from Her Universe. And if you are not quite sure what your ‘fangirl’ should want, they now offer gift cards.

ThinkGeek is as ever a staple for geek-themed gifts. This year, Santa Maul is much taken with the Star Wars tie clips, cuff links money clips, lightsaber earrings and business card holder, though of course he can not help but be a little tickled by the R2-D2 car charger and Darth Vader stress toy.

Santa Maul would not be so neglectful as to forget the year’s books. Though you may have procured it for yourself, do not forget The Making of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Art: Concept and the many other oversized offerings that magically appear during the fall.

For one wishing for to bring a custom level to their lair, Santa Maul is much taken with these Death Star-inspired wall tiles from Tom Spina Design.
