Fisher, Hamill and Ford to start in ‘March or April?’

J.J. Abrams said this weekend that Episode VII will begin filming in May; Now Carrie Fisher is telling TV Guide that she, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford will start in March or April. (And yes, none of the actors have been officially confirmed yet, but that hasn’t stopped her before.) Maybe it’s a misquote for ‘spring,’ or maybe Episode VII isn’t a mystery box so much as a confusion box? Or they’re all going to tour Highclere Castle Downton Abbey as team-building exercise? (via)

In any case: “I’d like to wear my old [cinnamon buns] hairstyle again — but with white hair,” Fisher also said. “I think that would be funny.”

Win a chance to visit Skywalker Ranch, meet George Lucas and Mark Hamill

The Main House at Skywalker Ranch Would you like the chance to win a trip to meet The Maker and Luke Skywalker? There’s an interesting contest afoot that lets you buy chances to do just that!

For $10 an entry (which get less expensive the more entries you buy), you could win a trip for you and a friend to Skywalker Ranch on February 21st. (Cancel all plans.) There you get a tour of the Ranch with the ranch manager and get to meet George Lucas! Then you get whisked away to meet Mark Hamill at Nerdist HQ in Los Angeles. (That date is, apparently, more flexible, but they’re currently wanting you to do it the next day.)

All entries go to benefit Make-A-Wish. So even if you don’t win ::sob::, your money is going to a great cause.

There are perks to just entering. At various levels, you get everything from an e-card from Mark Hamill thanking you for entering to a t-shirt to a signed lightsaber and beyond!

What are you waiting for? This is actually a big event you can win without having to bid tens of thousands at an auction. How often does that opportunity come around?

Roundup: StarWars.com adds Episode VII section

Episode VII on StarWars.comStarWars.com. A year and change after the announcement, the official site has added a section for Episode VII. (via)

Actors. It’s not that really a big surprise that J.J. Abrams wouldn’t be talking to Samuel L. Jackson or Ewan MacGregor regarding Episode VII, but Mark Hamill? So said Jackson in a recent David Letterman appearance, anyway.

Billy Dee and Rebels? Maybe not so fast on that rumor that Billy Dee Williams will be doing a voice on Rebels. Lightsaber Rattling quotes the full conversation.

Horrors. I originally clicked in this expecting to think ‘I’ve seen worse,’ but io9 may be right: This might really be be the ugliest Star Wars shirt ever.

Episode VII: Spartacus actor auditions for a Jedi role, more castings and #BringBackLando!

Why hello there, Liam McIntyreCasting rumor du jour, part 2. RebelForce Radio tells Jedi News that their DragonCon correspondent, Riley of The Star Wars Report, had a conversation with actor Liam McIntyre (Spartacus) who told him that he’s auditioned for a Jedi role in Episode VII. They’ll reveal more on tomorrow’s episode.

Casting calls. Meanwhile it seems there’s more casting going in New York. Only three roles, but they sound similar to several from the earlier slate. Could they already have folks (or finalists?) for the other parts?

Returning faces? Billy Dee Williams was also at DragonCon, and his manager said that Ford, Fisher and Hamill still aren’t signed. They’re urging folks to show their support for bringing back Billy Dee – who wants Lando to have “a beautiful daughter who’s a Jedi” – by using the hashtag #BringBackLando.

Sunday roundup: Looking forward to 2015 and Celebration VII at Celebration Europe

@starwars: A most impressive gathering of @501stLegion members at #StarWarsCelebration! As one Celebration ends, another is announced… Celebration VII (which may not be the official name, but we’re going to call it that, damnit!) is set for Anaheim, California in April 2015. Star Wars Celebration Anaheim (the official name, apparently?) will be held at the Disneyland-adjacent Anaheim Convention Center from April 16-19, reverting us back to schedules of the original Celebrations. Does this guarantee us a May release date for Episode VII? Let’s hope so. Tickets will be on sale August 7th.

What else went on in Essen today? Well, Mark Hamill spoke, and while it didn’t make the official recap, apparently he did do a voice on The Clone Wars – a Darth. But he’s also open to voicing a villain on Rebels.

Speaking of… Here’s Dave Filoni and Warwick Davis.

Other panels today included ‘The Fett-Tastic Four’ (with surprise Temeura Morrison!) and the Jabba’s Palace reunion and, of course, the closing ceremonies.

This isn’t the end of coverage – we expect the usual flood of nightly additions as folks wind down, plus more as people return home and get a chance to think, upload pictures and etc – so check back!

“We want this to happen.” Mark Hamill talks SDCC, Episode VII

Mark Hamill at SDCC in 1976Mark Hamill my not be making an official appearance at San Diego Comic-Con – hell, he can’t even visit without being recognized – but he was happy to chat about it (and Star Wars, natch) with The Hollywood Reporter.

As for Episode VII? Well, we’re still waiting on an official announcement, but:

Hamill’s hopes are high for the Star Wars: Episode VII reunion: “We want this to happen. How could I not take this ride? They’re making all the right moves, like Michael Arndt as the writer. Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3 — he writes humor and he writes heart. I’m not someone who looks to recapture the glory of when I was in my 20s. I think it’ll probably be about the next generation. We’ll be the link to the past, but the kids will be doing the heavy lifting. And the Wookiee will have a walker.”

Hamill is up for it, even if he’s no longer the teenage Luke. “Am I the age Sir Alec [Guinness] was in 1977? I don’t want to do the math.” (He’s 61; Guinness was 63.) He also hopes one day to find the shirt he wore to a 1976 convention: “It’s a collectible; it would’ve shot up in value.”

Hamill and Carrie Fisher will be appearing next week at Celebration Europe in Germany. Lucasfilm has denied that they’ll be making any Episode VII announcements in San Diego.
