Valleywag’s Tech Villain Dream Team includes Gaius Baltar, Lex Luthor and Dr. Doom. I wonder… Has Hollywood ever done a bumbling villian team-up movie before? Just imagine the completely predictable hilarity!
Top 5 movie posters
Sam Smith’s picks for the best movie posters of 2006. I don’t necessarily agree with his ordering, but on the whole I agree with his choices.
You’re braver than I thought…
One of these things is not like the other
Crave’s Top Ten Girl Geeks (Ada Byron! Marie Curie! Lisa Simpson!) are pretty awesome. Okay, Daryl Hannah is rather unexpected, but keep scrolling to… Paris Hilton? Seriously? I blame this.
Stuff blowing up real good
Star Wars tops IGN’s list of the Five Most Memorable Action Movies. Blade Runner and The Matrix also get nods.
Wheaton’s top five
Wil Wheaton on the five books every geek should read. I’m only one for five here*, but to each their own. (via SF Signal)
* I think The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is kind of overrated. Don’t stone me.
And I’m all out of bubblegum.
“Aren’t you a little short for a Stormtrooper?” gets some love as one of Hollywood’s best put-downs in The Independent’s best (and worst) lines in the history of film. “Use the force, Luke.” also ranks among their choices for best one-liners.
Luke Skywalker: More influential than Dorothy Gale, less than Joe Camel
Luke Skywalker is #85 on list of the 101 most influential people who never lived, as compiled by three “rowdy philosophers” from Jersey. Also making the list: King Arthur (#3,) Prince Charming (#20,) Dracula (#33,) Buffy the Vampire Slayer (#44,) Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock (#50,) Batman (#60,) Nancy Drew (#62,) and Kermit the Frog (#67.) Long story short: It’s kind of a weird list, and I expect liquor (and possibly tobacco – check out #1) is somehow involved.
Everything old is pants again
The top 175 Star Wars Pants lines, as voted by people like you! (via SF Signal)
The top 5:
1. I find your lack of pants disturbing.
2. You are unwise to lower your pants
3. Chewie and me got into a lot of pants more heavily guarded than this.
4. I cannot teach him. The boy has no pants.
5. The Force is strong in my pants.
I must admit, I have a large weakness for pants.
May the money be with him
Far be it for Star Wars fans to not want to help keep all things Star Wars on the big lists. In our continuing effort to keep the beloved Flanneled One, George Lucas, out of the poor house, Star Wars fans ponied up countless dollars, euros, yen, etc, to put George Lucas at #70 on the Forbes 400 Wealthiest Americans list.
Whew! He’s safe for now….
