StarWars.com has instructions from Lawrence Noble on how to make a spooky Yoda pumpkin.
Star Wars Saturday crafts
Crafty threefer at the official blog last night: Bonnie turned up three homemade costumes for dogs (with instructions!) spotted a list of knit hats and visits the LFL Starbucks.
A TIE Fighter with Starbucks DNA
No, this has nothing to do with Battlestar Galactica, it’s a TIE Fighter made by Wired’s Dan Winters out of nonperishable stuff easily found at a local Starbucks coffee shop:
He used nearly 50 ‘Bucks cups and a crazy number of stirrers to build this, the coolest TIE Fighter ever. “The ribbing on the drink holders reminded me of solar panels,” Winters says. “That instantly registered ‘TIE fighter’ in my head.”
(See a bigger picture at the link.) Wired is running a contest, and I bet there’s a lot more Star Wars stuff to be made from cups and stirrers. Get to it! (via)
The fandom minute: The dark side of ‘I know;’ Vader vs. Q; Raise your kids on ANH; Cardboard Fett
- Comic: xkcd imagines Harrison Ford’s less-successful ad-libs.
- Poll: io9 has a villain cage match between Darth Vader and Q. So far? Q is winning. Go do your thing.
- Lists: Star Wars is #1 on GeekDad’s ten geeky movies to raise your kids on.
- Crafts: Build a cardboard Boba Fett costume on the cheap!
The fandom minute: Ahsoka, blogs, project, Mandos
- Shocking! io9 thinks that Ahsoka Tano is going to die. We say: No shit, Sherlock.
- Fansites: Share your EU musings on EUC’s EUBlogs.
- Project: Make your collection classy with a miniatures wall decoration.
- Time-wasting: Mando fans can customize (to the point of being nearly ridiculous) their fantasy armor with the Mandalorian Merc’s Mandomaker.
The fandom minute: Revenge comic, new KOTOR site, cheap-ass lightsabers, Boba Fett
Flashback: 14-year old Dave Lowe’s Revenge of the Jedi fan comic from 1980. There’s Luke/Leia kissing and sleeveless Vader! (via) In a more professional capacity, he also did some work for a Sci-Fi Channel Star Wars marathon back in 1993.
- Fan sites: MizzeeOh, we we know as a contributer over at EUC, has launched a new KOTOR site, Carbonite Dreams.
- Howto: A cheap custom lightsaber at Instructables.
- Lists: Topless Robot places Boba Fett in the #1 spot in their list of the 10 most awesome characters ruined by fans. Can I get an amen? (The real shocker of the article: Sonic the Hedgehog has fans?)
Socking as a Hammerhead
I heard somewhere that ‘Hammerhead’ is offensive to the Ithorian people. I’m not sure how they’d feel about a likeness made of socks, though.
Carbonite arts and crafts
Dark chocolate Han Solo chocolate bar? I smell a CJ group project! (Thanks, Bonnie!) Also: Queso dish!
R2-D2 knit hat
Because you can’t make Jayne hats all the time, people. (Thanks, Bonnie!)
