Queue the eyeroll. Scott Mendelson asks if there’s Star Wars without George Lucas. To quote Brian, “Welcome to the most annoying question directed at EU fans, rest of fandom.”

Casting. On The Graham Norton Show, Harrison Ford says he “hasn’t decided yet” about Episode VII, but he’ll return to Indiana Jones “in a New York minute.” And Michael B. Jordan tells The Huffington Post that he has indeed auditioned for the film.

On that note, read this. Film Critic Hulk on why casting rumors are nonsense. None of this is a surprise, but it is definitely something to keep in mind, and one of the reasons we don’t take rumors particularly seriously around these parts. (Also: They amuse me.)

George Lucas and Mellody Hobson welcome first child together

George and MellodyGeorge Lucas and wife Mellody Hobson are now parents – together. The couple welcomed a daughter, Everest Hobson Lucas, on Friday via surrogate.

Everest is the couple’s first child together, and Lucas’ first biological child. She joins older siblings Amanda, Katie and Jett Lucas.

Lucas and Hobson have been together for several years, but made their union official in June. Congratulations to George, Mellody and the whole family!

Lucas, Hobson celebrate marriage in Chicago

After getting married last weekend at Skywalker Ranch, George Lucas and Mellody Hobson headed to her hometown of Chicago to celebrate.

Prince performed at the party on at lakeside Promontory Point, and the attendees included Mark Hamill, Robin Williams, singer Ne-Yo (who was in Red Tails,) Today’s Al Roker and Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

UPDATE: Hobson stopped by CBS This Morning Monday and talked a little about the wedding and reception.

George Lucas and Mellody Hobson got married this weekend at Skywalker Ranch

George and MellodyDespite earlier reports that the wedding may happen on the 29th in Chicago, George Lucas and Mellody Hobson got married this weekend at Skywalker Ranch.

The Huffington Post has our first look at the happy couple and details from the ceremony. Lucas’ son Jett served as best man, while daughters Katie and Amanda were bridesmaids. The service was conducted by journalist Bill Moyers, who worked with Lucas on the acclaimed PBS documentary series Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth.

“Let’s give a Galactic shout out to Master George Lucas & his Bride,” Samuel L. Jackson tweeted on Saturday.

The “wedding was joy to behold,” Ron Howard tweeted Sunday.

Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola and Senator Bill Bradley (who gave away the bride) were also among the attendees. Musicians Van Morrison and Janelle Monae performed.

Lucas and Hobson, who have been together for several years, announced their engagement in January.

George Lucas has yet to speak to J.J. Abrams about Episode VII

At the Daytime Emmys the other day, George Lucas told Access Hollywood that he hasn’t spoken to J.J. Abrams about Episode VII yet.

I have not spoken to J.J. He’s been busy with Star Trek, and I’m sure that he’ll let me know when he’s got some questions. So, you know, that’s all going well. Kathy tells me it’s working out great.

He does seem mostly relieved about it, but I’m sure there will be some sort of discussion as production ramps up. (via)

The Clone Wars wins Daytime Emmys for Best Animated Show and David Tennant’s guest spot

The 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards - Press Room

The Clone Wars brought home the gold at the Daytime Emmys, presented over this past weekend, taking home two awards: Outstanding Special Class Animated Program, and Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for David Tennant as the voice of Huyang, the droid who mentors Jedi younglings in constructing lightsabers.

At the main Daytime Emmy presentation on Sunday, Carrie Fisher presented the Animated Program award to George Lucas, Dave Filoni, Cary Silver and Athena Portillo for the Animated Program win. Fisher did slip in reference to dropping acid, while George had his own slip of the tongue.

David Tennant’s award was given out on Friday at the Creative Arts presentation and Dave Filoni remarked on Tennant’s tenure on Doctor Who as a reason to cast him as the droid: “I absolutely loved what David Tenant was doing on Doctor Who. There was such a quizzical nature to his character, a sense of whimsy, but he could still get very powerful emotion out of the character — a lot of intensity, a lot of anger — just an incredible display of range.”

After switching to Saturday mornings for its final season, The Clone Wars was eligible for Daytime Emmys and earned seven nominations after the show’s cancellation.

George Lucas: Abrams gets Star Wars

At a recent event, George Lucas told Access Hollywood that J.J. Abrams “understands” Star Wars and “how it works.” And if not… Kathleen Kennedy will “keep it straight.” He also addressed his own role in this as being more or less on call, and the inevitable critics:

“No matter how you do it, it’s a complicated cultural icon. Therefore you’re always going to be in trouble no matter what you do,” he said. “So, the best thing you can do is just plow forward and try to do the best story you can.”
