Meanwhile, over at Amazon, the ‘search inside’ will give you not only some Apocalypse, but the previews of Aaron Allston’s X-Wing Mercy Kill and Jeff Grubb’s Scourge! (via)
Art. Two more looks at the interior art of The Essential Gude to Warfare: An Imperial refueling and a fantastic Dave Seeley title page spread showing the Battle of Couscant from Revenge of the Sith. It’s better than the actual cover!
Sith and circumstances.Star Wars Books will be holding a Facebook chat with author James Luceno tomorrow afternoon on Darth Plagueis. It will no doubt be spoilerific, so take some time to finish the book today. I just started it, but will take the bullet to recap the chat tomorrow either way. On that note, here’s yet another review of the book from NJOE.
Interviews. TFN talks to author Ryder Windham about his recent book The Wrath of Darth Maul.
Crimson Empire III. With Empire Lost #1 in stores, Dark Horse founder and co-writer Mike Richardson talks to Comic Book Resources about getting the Star Wars license and getting re-acquainted with Kir Kanos and crew.
Short stories. Two brand-new authors have a story coming to the Insider in January. David J. Williams and Mark Williams’ ‘Maze Run’ is a “classic Han & Chewie adventure aboard the Millennium Falcon,” to tie into the release of The Millennium Falcon Owner’s Workshop Manual. Fittingly, the ship is “the star of the story.” Will we see the Williams doing anything more lengthy for the franchise?
StarWars.com has posted a seven-page excerpt of the upcoming novel Shadow Games, by Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff. In this first selection, Dash Rendar finds a lack of gravity disturbing aboard the Millennium Falcon. Will Han help Dash get his feet back on the ground? The official site also has a brief teaser summary.
Shadow Games will go on sale in paperback and as an ebook on November 29, 2011.
Naturally, there are mixed feeling among those who’ve already read the book. Peter Morrison at Lightsaber Rattling says that Golden did a “a great job” with several of the established characters, as well as making Abeloth a more effective villain. Bill Silvia at NJOE was far less impressed, turning out a rather brutal review that claims Ascension is “cheap and hateful… to the very concept of a fandom.” For what it’s worth, both reviews are spoiler-free.
And if you’re hounding for more, Suvudu has a new excerpt, featuring Ben, Vestara, Luke and Jaina.
Fate of the Jedi. The seventh of John Jackson Miller’s Lost Tribe of the Sith ebooks, Pantheon, was released today. It features an except of the next Fate of the Jedi book, Golden’s Ascension, which was also the subject of the last mini-except on Facebook. Ascension will be out August 9.
Upcoming. Announced last week, The Millennium Falcon Owners’ Workshop Manual by Ryder Windham with Chris Trevas and Chris Reiff on art. Currently scheduled for a February 2012 release.
SDCC. Del Rey will be giving out Revan masks in San Diego this weekend. (Revan masks? Really?) I seem to recall them promising that the book’s cover would revealed at the con, so there’s that, too.
