Today was the film’s big press day, which meant that Kathleen Kennedy, Chris Terrio, Billy Dee Williams and the elusive Adam Driver all joined the folks we’ve been seeing over the past few days… Plus, quite possibly, the ghost of Carrie Fisher.

He was like, ‘You never know what could come up.’ We did that a couple of times. Then it became a joke, because we would just wet ourselves laughing. I said to JJ, ‘You have to do a bloopers reel,’ because I couldn’t keep my shit together at all.”
The Rise of Skywalker will address Finn’s origins, J.J. Abrams tells Vanity Fair‘s Anthony Breznican. “I’m not saying we get full, exhaustive downloads on all of their childhoods and every major step that got them to where they are,” Abrams said. “But there are a lot of questions about Finn’s past, about Poe’s past, obviously Rey and Kylo, and then some of the new characters we meet.”

Two new commercials showed up this weekend. The first, “Celebrate,” features a new Leia shot, plus Kylo with the Knights of Ren, Poe, and some space battle stuff.
The second, “Hold on,” has a few minor new shots:
A dying fan at Rowans Hospice in Hampshire, England was able to see The Rise of Skywalker with his young son.
The patient said in a statement, “I just want to say the biggest thank you to everyone that has helped to make this happen. During what is just a horrible situation to be in, you have helped to make some wonderful memories and bring some joy to my family.” They’re choosing to stay “safely anonymous,” thus the helmets.

Released out into the world tonight is a version of the featurette that launched the Episode IX panel way back at Celebration Chicago in April – though I believe this one has more/different footage from behind the scenes of The Rise of Skywalker, though a few things did carry over.
Sheev speaks and “Duel of the Fates” shows up in the new “Duel” commercial, which is full of new brand new footage.
On Good Morning America this morning, John Boyega admits it was his script that ended up on eBay.
Boyega is also joining co-star Daisy Ridley in picking Baby Yoda over the porgs. “So cute, man. I love baby Yoda,” he said to USA Today. “And you know what? I’m against everyone that wants to give that baby another name except for Baby Yoda. That is Baby Yoda.” He later talked about his stock modeling days and falling in love with acting.

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Daisy Ridley does not hesitate to declare The Mandalorian’s Baby Yoda is cuter than the porgs. Fallon also asks her about dark Rey, and plays the clip from yesterday.
She also did a rap of all nine moves:
J.J. Abrams was busy today. After his visit to GMA, he appeared on SiriusXM’s EWLive, where he revealed that The Rise of Skywalker will clock in at “two hours and 21 minutes,” or 144 minutes, shorter than earlier reports. (Though that still may not account for the credits.) There’s a clip on the article, but the full interview will air on Thursday.
