Today in Episode VII: Yet more (spoilery) rumors regarding all sorts of things

spoilers-swirl-bbwarwick→ Making Star Wars is on a real roll today with several rumors that could be extremely spoilery. First, this morning, there was Daisy Ridley’s house. Jason then followed up this afternoon with some details about Max von Sydow’s character, a couple of planets/locations, a beast and lastly, a new droid, alien and discovery.

First of all, I have few doubts that Jason has seen this stuff. And doubling down is Devin at Badass Digest, who talks about much of the same stuff, including further von Sydow details and something about Chewbacca. But as a skeptical skeptic who skeptics, I have to wonder if some of this is a deliberate red herring. Head to the comments for my personal conspiracy theory.

In less spoilery things…

→ Carrie Fisher gets an award. Mark Hamill is there. Their #beardwatch and #blondewatch games are still strong, but they are both in Los Angeles, so perhaps they’ve wrapped up as well? In any case, enjoy the sibling cuteness and hope we’ll get to hear Carrie’s inevitable jokes sooner rather than later.

Cast tweets: It’s an Episode VII wrap for Anthony Daniels; Daisy Ridley deletes her account

@ADaniels3PO: In today's golden hour, on a back lot in SE England, it was a wrap for me. Terminal, I hope, only in relation to Episode VII.Time will tell.

Anthony Daniels tweeted last night that he’s wrapped his part on Episode VII. Meanwhile, several hours ago, Daisy Ridley posted a farewell and now her Twitter account (@ridley_daisy) is gone. Here’s the text of her last tweets, per Favstar:

happy Saturday folks. I am bowing out of twitter. I really appreciate all the support thus far and hope you LOVE the film!

it has been and continues to be an INCREDIBLE experience with the most amazing group of people, cast and crew. Big Star Wars love. #MTFBWY x

The deletion is fairly understandable on Ridley’s part, particularly given the amount of secrecy surrounding the production.

You can see some of Ridley’s tweets on the tweets tag on our Tumblr, as well as those of her costars. She was a charming figure on the service – hopefully she feels like she can return one day.

Several of the newer Star Wars cast members remain active on Twitter: John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, and Pip Andersen, plus mainstays Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Peter Mayhew. For the record: Don’t ask Episode VII cast (or crew) if they can confirm or deny rumors; You know very well they can’t.

Today in Episode VII: Will stuff from the sequel trilogy make it into Rebels? Probably, duh.

rebels3Entertainment Weekly is acting like they’ve never heard the term ‘Lucasfilm Story Group’ before in an article today where they ‘exclusively’ inform us that things from Episode VII may very well show up in Rebels.

“There are characters, vehicles, imagery that are introduced in the show before we’ve ever seen them in the movies, possibly including VII,” Simon Kinberg tells them.

Of course, he told /Film back at SDCC that “We haven’t really talked about that,” so take it as you will. Playing coy is the name of the game here, I suppose. But consider that season 2 of Rebels is likely to premiere next October, just as we’re likely to see some serious marketing ramp up for Episode VII, and it seems pretty likely that the two are going to tie together with something more significant than some ships and speeders. On that hand, it does seem a bit early to unleash the certain point of viewing, so they really want you to watch Rebels.

→ There’s now a video from the Greenham Common set, and someone thinks they’ve spotted a different kind of X-wing. Maybe this one can really be a Headhunter, for the truthers.

→ On that note, could Daisy Ridley’s character name indeed be [redacted]? Well, as always: Maybe?

→ Where in the galaxy is Luke Skywalker? Round, umm, let’s say 5.

→ Mark Ruffalo wants in. Aww, Mark Ruffalo.

→ Are we really taking random message board posters seriously now? Because now there’s one who claims to know all about Adam Driver’s role. Okay!

Disney CFO: Star Wars franchise to follow in Marvel’s footsteps

Vader at Disneyland. Or Disney World? I can't tell. Disney CFO Jay Rasulo said today that the Star Wars franchise will be “mirroring” Marvel by broadening the appeal to women and families. Gotta wonder: Has anyone told merchandising that yet?

Today in Episode VII: Dinner with Edgar

dai-jj-john→ J.J. Abrams, John Boyega and Daisy Ridley were at a dinner party (?) with director Edgar Wright. There was some jumping on this as a ‘sign’ of Wright being involved with Star Wars, but I think maybe Slashfilm has the best idea – that J.J. may just want to geek out with someone who can actually keep a damn secret. Or maybe they’re just buds and/or they’re all trolling us again. Who knows! (Random trivia I was unaware of before today: Wright produced Attack the Block, Boyega’s feature debut.)

→ Meanwhile, Adam Driver is officially out of hiding as GQ’s latest cover story. He doesn’t talk much about Star Wars, but it’s got some decent (if very ::sideeye:: guy mag) stuff on his background.
