Out this week: Legacy #17, The Star Wars collected

The Dark Horse license is winding down… On Wednesday comes the second-to-last issue of Legacy, #17, along with The Star Wars collected in both paperback and hardcover.

Meanwhile, our next big book release is, I guess, a bunch of Rebels stuff on July 21, including Star Wars Rebels: The Visual Guide. (I’m not sure if the street dates on DK stuff are particularly strict, so you may be seeing these sooner. May.) John Jackson Miller’s Rebels prequel novel, A New Dawn, is due out September 2, and his Kenobi will be out in paperback on July 29.

Marvel’s first step with their new Star Wars license? A reprint.

Well, this is underwhelming: The first fruit of Marvel’s new run on Star Wars is… Their old run on Star Wars? It’s a collection called Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years. At 880 pages, it’ll run you $125, but it is the first part (#1-44) of the complete run. Zounds!

Historic, yes. Thrilling? Not so much. I can understand Marvel not wanting to take the spotlight away from today’s (lady!) Thor announcement, but ehh. Well, at least we didn’t have to watch The View.

Out this week: The Jedi Doth Return

jedi-dothYou have a reason to go to the bookstore today! Out now is William Shakespeare’s The Jedi Doth Return by Ian Doescher and Crucible by Troy Denning in paperback, though I can’t exactly recommend the latter. Still, we now know for sure that it’s the last gasp of the old (post-ROTJ) EU, so if you’re a completist, might as well go for it. Or not. I’ve done enough judging on that book.

As for the former, Cnet has a look at a few of the images.

Wednesday brings the hardcover collection of Darth Vader and the Cry of Shadows to comic shops.

Out this (and last) week: Son of Dathomir #2, Star Wars #18 and the Mara Jade Bishoujo statue

JadeCon prep meant I never did a new release post last week, so naturally there were several last Wednesday.

This Wednesday, however, brings us Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir #2.While you’re at the comic ship, you can pick up last week’s books, Star Wars #18 and the third Dawn of the Jedi trade collection, Force War. Last week also saw Star Wars Insider #150 make it out to the newsstands.

Also on the shipping list for this week? Kotobukiya’s Mara Jade Bishoujo statue. The list is for comic shops, but it’s also on Amazon if you’re so inclined. (It doesn’t seem folks were too impressed, but keep in mind this may very well be the last Mara Jade merchandise ever…)
