Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
John Jackson Miller writes about wrapping up the comic series on his blog:
We’ve been working toward the series’ climax for some time, getting pieces into place for the big finale — where we really have pulled out all the stops. Every question posed in the series (at least to my way of thinking) is addressed.
Miller goes on to say he does have another project in the works – but we’ll have to wait and see whether it’s a Star Wars or KOTOR one.
You probably don’t need me to tell you that the internet famous Star Wars/zombie mashup novel Death Troopers is out today, what with all the twittering and reviewing and interviewing and such. Like, StarWars.com’s Zombie Week. (I don’t know about you, but I’m crossing my fingers for an official ‘Thriller’ video.)
Don’t forget Joe Schreiber’s book tour, which begins tonight in Huntington Beach, California.
As for Wednesday comics, there’s Invasion #0, which may look a little familiar.
StarWars.com has the January comic solicitations: The Clone Wars #12, Knights of the Old Republic #49 and it looks like Legacy #44 will be channeling the spirit of Swamp Thing. And for the trades, Legacy’s just-finished ‘Tatooine’ arc.
A single, solitary comic this Wednesday: Legacy #40, the conclusion of the ‘Tatooine’ storyline. I find myself hoping that Morrigan shots Cade (not a spoiler: look at the cover;) if only to put us him out of his fail spiral.
As for books, both Amazon and B&N are showing a release date of October 1st for Steve Sansweet’s 1,000 Collectibles: Memorabilia and Stories from a Galaxy Far, Far Away. A Thursday? Does that just mean there is no official release date? In any case, go ahead and start looking but don’t count on anything.
Crafting corner. There are two Mara Jade items in this roundup, and here’s the first one. Rebecca aka Sorakirei, whose first lightsaber scarf we featured earlier in the month, has another made another one. The Mara Jade lightsaber scarf was a commission – could it be from one of our readers? It’s a big internet… She’s also done a ROTJ Luke saber since we last looked…

Yes, its another one of those lists that was probably compiled by hitting the random button on the Wookieepedia, but I’m considering doing a novel version. (Since I’ve actually, like, read a lot of them. Imagine that. The New Rebellion, are your ears stinging yet?)

If Amazon is to be believed, today is the ‘official’ release date of Ryder Windham’s A New Hope: The Life of Luke Skywalker. Wednesday brings Invasion #3, featuring the triumphant return of Beefy the Vong! Or something.
Really, Hasbro? No one objected to this? Yes, we know where the ultimate blame falls, but still. Really?
In less wince-worthy toy stuff, get up close and personal with the repackaged Comic Packs, as well as the news ones such as Darth Krayt & Sigel Dare, Lumiya & Luke, Beefy the Vong & Kyle Katarn and the news-to-me Emperor’s Hand Imperial Shuttle.
Winceworthy. Geekdad’s Lonnie Morgan gets a bit too into reading Star Wars novels and celebrates by inflicting yet another round of fantasy casting upon the internets. (I dislike this kind of thing: They all tend to come out in fail.) There’s also a poll on which (if any) EU series/era you’d like to see come to the screen.
Lost Tribe of the Sith: Sue Rostoni gave a tentative date of February 9th for the next installment of the Fate of the Jedi tie-in ebooks. That’s about a month before the fourth book, Allston’s Backlash, is due out.
