Star Wars with occasional sarcasm
I don’t know why I get so fascinated by these things, but I do. (Would it kill them to come up with a tree topper, already?)
Either way, here’s a reminder that this Saturday and Sunday is the annual Hallmark Ornament Premiere Weekend. Your chance to grab the new Star Wars ornaments before anyone else! (There’s also an Indy one.)
There are several Star Wars items in the latest Profiles in History auction, including Threepio’s feet (above,) a TIE miniature, a Duros latex head cast, an Imperial Officer uniform and X-Wing master molds, all from from A New Hope. The Star Wars items are lots 901-905, but there’s plenty of sci-fi and action film items scattered throughout, including the Holy Grail from The Last Crusade (Lot 916.) You don’t have to be a collector to enjoy paging through the catalog PDF… (Thanks to Rach on the list!)
Internet rockstar Derek Powazek photographs some old-school collectibles. (Is 1983 actually old enough to be considered ‘vintage’ yet?) He also links the original commercial.

Looking over the list today, there are some cool items from Firefly (Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk) and SuperNatural (Jared Padelecki, Jenson Ackles) that aren’t getting much action. This might be your chance to pick up some nice items from those fandoms and still support a good cause.
I try to only listen to about one podcast a year – life, or rather, the amount of it I allot to blogging, is far too short – but I couldn’t avoid the latest Force-Cast since it’s basically an extended interview with Lucasfilm’s Head of Fan Relations, Steve Sansweet. (Yes, it was worth it, though the intro… I need to paraphrase Lorelei Gilmore: Shorten it, decute it.) Anyway, here’s what I learned:
The podcast on the whole is a manageable 23 minutes, so I would recommend you listen to it yourself – at least if you want to hear more about Celebration Japan or the Encyclopedia.
TFN posted a reminder today that the Star Wars 15-stamp sheet will no longer be available after the 25th. (Yoda stamps are okay through October.)
Postage rates have gone up since these were issued, so if you actually plan on using them be sure to make up the difference.

The New York Post got wind of the “Deadwood meets The Sopranos” rumor, and they also report that Lucas met with cable channel executives, including HBO, last year… Though that could easily have been for The Clone Wars.
