Fisher, Ridley and Boyega on The Force Awakens

ridley-boyega-ewThe latest Entertainment Weekly has a spread on The Force Awakens. You can read the print article here, but they’ve also been posting expanded interviews with some of the cast.

So far we have Carrie Fisher, who called herself “the custodian of Leia” and reveals that her part in one of the sequel drafts “wasn’t what I thought Leia should be.” Then Daisy Ridley, in what may be her first major Star Wars interview. And today, we heard from John Boyega.

No Oscar Isaac yet, but he did do a nice interview with IGN where he revealed some of the research he did for the part.

J.J. Abrams addresses The Force Awakens rumors, secrecy

J.J. Abrams on The Tavis Smiley ShowAt the the Irish Oscar Wilde awards – which honored Carrie Fisher – The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams had a less harsh take on the rumors than one might expect. From the BBC:

Asked about the secrecy surrounding the script, Abrams added: “We did the best we can to preserve the story for the audience, but it doesn’t always work.

“There are a ton of rumours – some true, some false. But I’m grateful for everyone who would want to read a spoiler because it means that they care and want to see the movie.

“I know what it feels like, as an enormous Star Wars fan myself.”

Stephen Fry presented Fisher with her award.

Episode VII roundup: Set reports, more concept art, Billie Lourd and Skellig Michael

rumors-swirl-falcon-esb→ Is this our final Pinewood set report for The Force Awakens? It could be.

→ Making Star Wars also has another concept art description… This one sounds a lot like it’s related to the very first piece of concept art that we saw. (And the only one we’ve seen officially, for that matter.) Well, mostly saw. Also very curious to go back and look at the comments on that post in the wake of the title announcement…

→ It’s nothing we haven’t heard before, but at her Vegas show, Debbie Reynolds did say that granddaughter Billie Lourd had been working on The Force Awakens along with Carrie Fisher, “Harrison Ford… and the other boychik.”

→ The Irish government is less than impressed at Unesco’s claims that the Star Wars shooting on Skellig Michael may have harmed the World Heritage site, the Irish Examiner reports.

→ Both Interstellar director Christopher Nolan and The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart were asked about The Force Awakens in recent interviews. And Matthew McConaughey shows up 15 minutes late to the ‘I’d love to be in Star Wars‘ party with Starbucks.

This weekend in Episode VII: Wrap party!

artoo-boyega-wrapAlthough there are some rumblings that filming isn’t quite done for all, Saturday night was the wrap party for Episode VII. John Boyega posted a photo with Artoo and a video to his Instagram, and later shared another from the party. Naturally, the paparazzi were there. (Yes, Simon Pegg was there, so get ready for another round of ‘does he have a role?!?‘)

And you can get a closer look at the Artoo – presumably the same one used during the filmng – at Indie Revolver.

Episode VII filming wraps up for some cast and crew

Well, if the beard wasn’t sign enough, we now have even more proof that filming on Episode VII is wrapping up: A goodbye letter to cast and crew:

You can just see, in the very top of the picture, the VII hat that we’ve seen around before.

Of course, we knew this was inevitable, as it’s been two weeks since we last heard from Kathleen Kennedy, but it’s sad to see the proof rolling in.

…And then there’s Carrie Fisher. Is #blondewatch still a go?

Today in Episode VII: Carrie Fisher’s birthday, Daniel Radcliffe visited the set

→ Some of the Episode VII crew went out yesterday to celebrate Carrie Fisher’s birthday. The article is from the Daily Mail and thus awful, so here’s the pictures.

Daniel Radcliffe has visited the Pinewood set; he knows folks there due to Harry Potter, naturally.

Christina Chong still hasn’t been confirmed, but her management says she’s wrapped her part on Episode VII. (via)
