TV Survival for Lost and BSG

Some good news for all the fans wanting more of Lost and Battlestar Galactica.

ABC has given an early renewal to Lost for next season, in spite of its sagging ratings. Maybe this will force the producers to answer some questions in the storyline?

Battlestar Galactica has had its episode order upped to 22, from the original 13 episodes ordered. This could be seen as either good or bad. The good? It means that SciFi believes the show is going strong and needs a full season. The bad? SciFi believes that the show is tanking and is kindly giving the producers a chance to finish telling the story. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

In the meantime, head into the eternal wasteland between seasons with some hope that there is more to be had of your favorites.

Go softly into the Great Mandala

So, you know that thing that happened on Sunday on Battlestar Galactica? (How do you write these things without spoiling those who have yet to watch their TiVo’d episodes?)

The actor involved in said event has given an interview to a Portland radio show where said actor says what said actor knows about said event.

TV Blend has given a convenient summary of said interview.

And the CJ Blog staff will be going to gossip-column school to learn how to write in strangely nebulous ways….

TV News Roundup

Battlestar Galactica is hemorrhaging viewers, thanks to the use of DVR’s. Can the Sunday night move save it? Apparently, a decision will be made mid-February when the actors’ contracts are up.

HBO will be developing George R.R. Martin‘s A Song of Ice and Fire into a television series.

And the producers of Lost insist they have an endpoint in mind. You apparently have two more seasons to enjoy, as they’d like to end it at 100 episodes. And here you thought they were making this up as they went along….

Geeks Rule TV!

In ongoing evidence that geeks continue to take over the world, there are several genre shows in TV Week‘s semi-annual Critic’s Poll of the Best and Worst in Television.

At the Number 2 spot was Heroes, followed by Lost and Battlestar Galactica at numbers 6 and 9, respectively.

Of interest to many Jaders is The Office (3) and The Daily Show (14) also made the list.

Happily, no geektitude made the Worst list.

And would it be sucking up too much to say that we look forward to the upcoming Star Wars TV series making this list in the near future?
