Stormtroopers get Samurai treatment
Anyone who was at Celebration IV no doubt remembers the impressive Samurai Vader that was displayed at the Star Wars Shop booth. Well, now artist Yoshi Isao has created another hybrid creation – the Samurai Stormtrooper.
It’s all pretty awesome, but is it wrong that I love the reinterpretation of the Imperial icon on little flags best?
RIP John Alvin
Posterwire reports that artist John Alvin has passed away. He did quite a bit of Star Wars work, including the Celebration IV poster. His art also graced posters for E.T., Blade Runner, Alien, Willow, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.
Random LEGO moment: Alien in brick
Here’s another LEGO sci-fi gem – this Predator bust is the creation of Brickshelf user MisterZumbi. Brick or not, there’s something rather adorably Animal about it. (via)

A scientific genius with a troubled mind, Captain Ackbar spent much of his life roaming the stars in a ship of his own design. After witnessing his homeworld captured and his people enslaved by the Empire, he gathered a loyal crew and fled into deep space, planning to escape civilization entirely.
